  • Patent number: 4874400
Abstract: A method of treating an exhaust gas stream in a spray absorber with water and suspended reactants, is disclosed by introducing the water and the reactants, which are suspended in a liquid, through separate lines and distributors into a rotary atomizing disk, mixing them in the disk and jointly spraying them into the exhaust gas stream. Furthermore, an apparatus is disclosed which serves to carry out the process and in which two or more feeders which do not rotate with the conventional atomizing disk, are disposed above the disk and serve to separately feed treating agents into the reservoir of the atomizing disk.

  • Patent number: 4832710
Abstract: In an apparatus for collecting dust from a gas stream by centrifugal forces, essentially consisting of restraining and deflecting members which are arranged in alternation in the gas duct in a gridlike array, a D-section restraining-member configuration with a planar partition plate on its downstream arcuate side is used which permits as much as 40% of the dust content to be removed in a partial gas stream amounting to 3 to 6% of the entire gas stream and to accomplish this without an occurrence of unjustifiably high pressure drops.

  • Patent number: 4581045
Abstract: A gas-distributing device for use in a gas passage which flares like a diffuser, particularly a passage leading to an electrostatic precipitator, formed by a set of components consisting of perforated sheet metal panels, carrying and connecting elements, in which the carrying elements have no wide end faces extending at right angles to the direction of flow so that the variations of the gas velocity over the entire flow area can be distinctly reduced. Besides, the set of components can be manufactured at lower total costs and the perforated sheet metal panels, which are connected by the connecting element to the carrying elements consisting of flat bar strips, is simplified.

  • Patent number: 4005987
Abstract: A process for drying moist material, particularly substances containing water of crystallization, in which the material is passed in counterflow through a shaft to gases having an inlet temperature of 200.degree. to 1000.degree. C. The gas rises at a velocity of 2 to 30 m/sec. and the moist substances are introduced into the shaft in a high-density stream so that the moist materials agglomerate concurrently with the drying.
