  • Patent number: 10188246
Abstract: An odor-removing hinge system and method of use for withdrawing noxious odors from toilets and portable commodes is disclosed. The present seat hinge system includes an integrated housing that functions as a portion of an exhaust pathway for noxious gases expelled within the toilet bowl. The present hinge system includes at least one hollow bolt disposed in fluid communication with the housing, which is used to secure the toilet seat to the toilet. In one embodiment the noxious gases within the toilet bowl are carried by convection or vacuum via connective tubing to an exhaust conduit installed in an adjacent wall. In other embodiments the noxious gases are directed through a detachable air filter assembly secured to the housing and the odorless filtered air is recirculated. In a method of use the present hinge system is retrofitted to existing toilets and portables commodes in replacement of standard toilet seat hinges.

  • Patent number: 9504228
Abstract: An odor-removing trap system for removal of noxious gases emanating from cat litter boxes. The present invention provides an apparatus including an enclosure for capturing, filtering and removing noxious gases associated with cat waste products. Such gases rise upwardly within the enclosure wherein the gases are trapped and drawn from the enclosure. In one embodiment the gases are urged into an exhaust conduit disposed in fluid (i.e. air) transfer communication with the enclosure and flow to the exterior of the building by convection, air pressure or by vacuum created by a brushless fan motor. Such fan motor is powered by a battery pack or, alternatively, is electrically connected to an AC power source and can be actuated automatically by a motion detector whenever a cat enters the enclosure. In alternative embodiments the noxious gases are drawn through an air filter assembly including an activated charcoal filter element and absorbed therein.

  • Patent number: 7020909
Abstract: A portable self-contained vented commode is described. The stand alone apparatus includes a frame, a pivoting toilet seat, and an aligned removable collection container capable of being dumped post receipt of human waste, which container is disposed beneath the toilet seat. A seal is attached to the seat bottom to cooperate with the container for vapor retention. A flexible hose with a DC powered fan thereon is attached to the frame for collection of vapors from the container and the disposal thereof, by creating a positive pressure to expel the vapors to a distant location relative to the frame, through a vent.

  • Patent number: 6779204
Abstract: A portable venting commode apparatus includes a chute attached to a toilet seat that is inserted into a conventional type of flush-type toilet. A modified tapered chute is described along with a seal mechanism. A DC brushless fan motor and flexible vent hoses are used to conduct offensive smelling vapors through an opening in the toilet seat, through a vent assembly and out of the area. A modified stand alone apparatus that does not cooperate with the flush-type toilet is described that includes a removable container for collecting the urine and fecal matter therein that is later emptied when needed. The fan is used to expel the vapors under positive pressure through one of the vent hoses to a distal location.
