  • Patent number: 7738053
Abstract: A backlight unit includes a light-source substrate having mounted thereon a plurality of light-emitting elements emitting illumination light; a light guide plate having a side surface with the light-source substrate attached thereto so as to receive the illumination light from the light-emitting elements, the light guide plate also having a first surface extending substantially perpendicular to the side surface, and a second surface; a reflective sheet attached to the first surface and reflecting the illumination light towards the second surface; and an optical sheet layer attached to the second surface and including a plurality of stacked optical sheets. The side surface has a reflective portion that reflects at least a part of the illumination light. The at least a part of the illumination light to be reflected at the reflective portion is incident on the reflective portion at an incidence angle equal to or above a critical angle.

  • Publication number: 20070172711
Abstract: A fuel cell having a structure capable of certainly supplying a gas by making effective use of a limited space while ensuring the portability of the fuel cell is provided. The fuel cell includes two generators, a fuel supply portion, and two planar current collectors. Each of the generators has a proton conductor film, and a planar hydrogen side electrode and a planar oxygen side electrode disposed with the proton conductor film held therebetween. The fuel supply portion is adapted to supply a fuel to the hydrogen side electrodes of the generators. The planar current collectors, which are disposed in close-contact with the oxygen side electrodes of the generators, have gas transmission portions such as opening portions allowing the oxygen side electrodes to be opened to atmosphere. Since the oxygen side electrodes are opened to atmosphere, oxygen can be supplied to the generators without lowering a partial pressure of oxygen in air.

  • Publication number: 20070042246
Abstract: A fuel cell system is provided in which waste energy hitherto exhausted from a computer (10) can be reduced to improve the power generation efficiency of a fuel cell (27). Heat generated from a CPU (11) is supplied to the fuel cell (27), thereby controlling the temperature of the fuel cell (27). Consequently, a power generation can be performed while the fuel cell (27) is maintained at a temperature suitable for the power generation.

  • Publication number: 20060115696
Abstract: An object is to provide a hydrogen gas humidity control apparatus which removes excess moisture from the fuel gas or performs humidification or dehumidification by adjusting the moisture to keep the humidity in a fuel cell constant at an appropriate level, a fuel cell using the hydrogen gas humidity control apparatus, and a hydrogen gas humidity control method. By using a moisture carrier or proton conductor, a catalyst and voltage applying means, excess moisture in a hydrogen flow path or in hydrogen chamber is removed, or humidification or dehumidification is carried out by adjusting the moisture. A hydrogen gas humidity control apparatus and a fuel cell are comprised of a fuel-side gas diffusion chamber to which hydrogen gas is supplied, a hydrogen gas chamber to which hydrogen gas is supplied, and a proton conductor which separates the fuel-side gas diffusion chamber from the hydrogen gas chamber and allows water to pass therethrough.
