  • Patent number: 7334146
Abstract: An image processing apparatus which is capable of recovering a normal operation thereof at high speed. A CPU 2001 that controls a printer 108 determines whether or not the printer 108 should be switched from a normal operation mode to a power saving mode. Responsive to input of a signal for causing the apparatus to recover the normal operation mode, the CPU 2001 reads out a power saving mode flag from a flip-flop circuit 11005, and when the flag indicates the apparatus has been switched to the power saving mode, reads out a main program from a SDRAM, whereas when the flag does not, reads out the main from a HDD 2004, for control of the printer 108.

  • Publication number: 20070050772
Abstract: If a user specifies shutdown of the power supply of an apparatus from a console, another apparatus connected to the same network is notified so as not to issue a request for a new shared job, and it is determined whether a scheduled shared job exists. The display on a display screen is changed in accordance with the result of the determination. If it is determined that a shared job exists, shutdown of the power supply is controlled in accordance with the status of execution of the shared job.

  • Patent number: 7072060
Abstract: To avoid difficulties upon the outputting of data whose amount exceeds the capacity of a memory, without risking image quality degradation and without the need for using a particularly large memory, the system upon receiving first data from a host, generates therefrom second data that can be outputted from an image output apparatus. The second data is subjected to compression to produce third or fourth data (depending on what kind of compression is used) and, based on analysis of system information that is obtained from the host side, the third or fourth data is outputted to the host side. That data is subjected to decompression of a type that is suitable in view of the compression used, thus producing fifth or sixth data, which is outputted to the image output apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20060029412
Abstract: An image forming apparatus which is capable of achieving both enhanced userfriendliness and improved energy saving efficiency without being released from a reduced power consumption state by a user who has no will to use the same passing thereby. When a copying machine 200 is in a sleep mode, it is detected whether or not a user has come near to the copying machine 200. If a contactless IC 600 is present within the range of radio wave signals emitted from an IC tag reader/writer 500, it is determined that a user has come near because the communication between the contactless IC 600 and the IC tag reader/write 500 can be carried out. Reading of data from the contactless IC 600 is started, and user authentication is executed based on the data. If, as a result of the user authentication, the user is a licensed user, it is determined whether or not an original document has been set on an automatic feeder 800.

  • Patent number: 6912352
Abstract: A digital data recording and reproducing system records only programs desired by a user. A program selector in a digital VTR or in a set-top box selects only the programs desired by the user from a plurality of programs received by a tuner in the set-top box. The programs include video, audio, data and so forth that are subjected to data compression in digital broadcasting. The program selector selects the programs in response to a user instruction sent from the user via a man-machine interface, and transfers the selected programs to a recorder. Besides, the digital data recording and reproducing system includes a decoder including a discontinuity detector for detecting discontinuity between the programs by using information specified by IEC/ISO 13818 while said decoder is decoding the compressed digital data of the programs. The discontinuity detector restarts the decoder when detecting the discontinuity between the programs.

  • Publication number: 20040008364
Abstract: The present invention provides an image processing apparatus and method thereof, which can assure prevention of image data forgery with a simple configuration of the apparatus regardless of whether or not driver software installed in a host computer has a forgery prevention function. An image processing apparatus 102, e.g., a copying machine capable of high-quality image copying and color copying, is connected to a host computer 101 through a LAN 103. When the image processing apparatus 102 inputs/outputs image data through driver software installed in the host computer 101, the apparatus 102 identifies an existence/absence of a forgery prevention function in the driver software. In accordance with the identified result, a resolution of the image data is restrained.

  • Patent number: 6544736
Abstract: cDNA including the 5′-terminal sequence of full-length mRNA with a cap structure is synthesized from a mRNA sample containing the full-length mRNA with the cap structure and non-full-length mRNA without any cap structure in mixture. At the first step, the phosphate group at 5′-terminus of the non-full-length mRNA in the mRNA sample is removed. At the second step, the cap structure at the 5′-terminus of the full-length mRNA in the mRNA sample is removed. At the third step, an oligoribonucleotide is ligated to the phosphate group at 5′-terminus of mRNA generated through the first and second steps. At the fourth step, mRNA with the oligoribonucleotide ligated at the 5′-terminus thereof at the third step is subjected to a reverse transcriptase process using a short-chain oligonucleotide capable of being annealed to an intermediate sequence within the mRNA as primer, to synthesize a first-strand cDNA.

  • Publication number: 20020071138
Abstract: Even if a situation such that data exceeding a capacity of a memory is outputted occurs, image data which is not deteriorated is generated without expanding the memory capacity. Second data which can be outputted from an image output apparatus is generated from first data which is inputted from the host side. Third or fourth data is generated by performing a compression to the second data by a first or second data compressor 113 or 115. System information which is obtained from the host side is analyzed. The third or fourth data is outputted to the host side. Fifth or sixth data is generated by performing a decompression by a first or second data decompressor 114 or 116. A data controller 108 outputs the fifth or sixth data to the image output apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20020054692
Abstract: It is an object of this invention to provide an image processing system capable of detecting at a high speed whether copy-protected information is embedded in image data. For this purpose, the image processing system that practices this invention uses image data having a low resolution in detecting the embedded position of the copy-protected information. When the position is detected, the neighboring image is extracted in units of blocks on the basis of the pattern size and compared with the pattern image. If a specific pattern is detected as the result of comparison, the image is regarded as an original to be copy-protected, and appropriate processing is executed.
