  • Patent number: 6113197
Abstract: A wheel braking system comprises a motor driven gear pump, a relief line connecting the pump discharge to the pump intake, a wheel brake unit connected to the pump discharge, and a flow restriction in the relief line. A control unit controls the motor for the pump in response to an output signal of a brake pedal sensor. The brake pedal sensor generates the output signal indicative of the brake pedal stamping force. The control unit determines a desired motor speed for the sensed brake pedal stamping force and operates the motor.

  • Patent number: 5372412
Abstract: A pressure transmitter for a brake control system is provided with a piston having a passage extending between an input pressure chamber and an output pressure chamber and a seal fixedly installed on one end of the piston for sealing closing an end of the passage. The seal is resiliently deformable for transmission of pressure between the input pressure chamber and the output pressure chamber. A pressure control valve for a brake control system includes a valve spool for controlling communication between a pressure source and a wheel cylinder for producing a control pressure which is boosted on the basis of a master cylinder pressure and a vehicle running condition, a set of plungers for urging the valve spool in the direction of increasing the control pressure in response to increase of the master cylinder pressure and a solenoid for urging in the valve spool in the direction of causing decrease of the control pressure in response to increase of current supplied to the solenoid.

  • Patent number: 5273348
Abstract: A brake control system for automotive vehicles, comprises a master cylinder, a wheel cylinder, an external hydraulic pressure source for generating an external hydraulic pressure, an electronically controlled hydraulic pressure control valve connected to the external hydraulic pressure source, for converting the external hydraulic pressure to a control pressure, a hydraulic pressure multiplier unit connected to the hydraulic pressure control valve for generating a wheel-cylinder pressure higher than the master-cylinder pressure by multiplying the control pressure, and a spool biasing force restricting mechanism for restricting the magnitude of a spool biasing force created by the master-cylinder pressure to a designated upper limit only when the master-cylinder pressure exceeds a predetermined pressure level sufficient to provide a maximum wheel-cylinder pressure.

  • Patent number: 4932726
Abstract: An anti-skid brake control system is capable of optimizing vehicular braking characteristics in order to minimize the braking distance. The anti-skid brake control system takes a feature of the vehicle speed dependent wheel slippage threshold. For this, the anti-skid brake control system of the invention employs a wheel slippage threshold deriving means which derives a wheel slippage threshold on the basis of a vehicle speed. The wheel slippage threshold is compared with an actual wheel slippage detected on the basis of a vehicle speed and a wheel speed. Brake pressure in a wheel cylinder is reduced when the detected wheel slippage is increased across the wheel slippage threshold.

  • Patent number: 4520777
Abstract: A vehicular power steering system has on/off control means for controlling a hydraulic fluid pump in accordance with steering effort applied on a steering wheel. On the other hand, a sensing means senses vehicle speed. Judging means is connected with the on/off control means and the vehicle speed sensing means, and produces an actuating signal when the control means produces a control signal to drive the fluid pump and at the same time the sensed vehicle speed is below a predetermined speed. A solenoid valve is connected with the judging means. The solenoid valve is arranged to open and close a bypass passage which allows an air fuel mixture to bypass a throttle valve for an intake air flow control of the engine. Thus, the supply of an air fuel mixture to the engine is increased in response to the actuating signal, and the engine idling speed is stabilized.

  • Patent number: 4503297
Abstract: A sensor arrangement features a rolling element and cam groove arrangement which induces a displacement via which a switch may be closed to indicate that torque is being applied via a steering wheel to an upper section of a steering shaft arrangement and which provides an essentially instantaneous drive connection between the upper and a lower section of the steering shaft arrangement thus maintaining a desirable degree of torsional rigidity.
