  • Patent number: 5193926
Abstract: A recording apparatus including an apparatus body having a front section on the operator's side and a rear section remote from the operator's side, a medium feeding device supported by the apparatus body, for feeding a substantially transparent recording medium along a predetermined feed path defining a boundary between the front and rear sections, such that one of opposite surfaces of the medium faces the operator's side, a recording device disposed in the rear section of the apparatus body, for recording an image on the other surface of the medium, and a control device for controlling the recording device such that the image is laterally reversed as viewed in a first direction from the recording device toward the above-indicated other surface of the medium, with respect to a nominal desired image as viewed in a second direction from the front section toward the one surface of the medium, whereby the laterally reversed image is seen as the nominal desired image when viewed in the second direction.

  • Patent number: 5168814
Abstract: A feeding device for feeding a recording medium having a predetermined printing area on one of its opposite ssurfaces. The printing area extends in a printing direction. The feeding device includes a pair of feed rollers which holds the medium therebetween in rolling contact with the opposite surfaces of the medium. At least one of the pair of feed rollers is driven so as to rotate about an axis perpendicular to the printing direction, to feed the medium in the printing direction. One of the feed rollers which contacts the above-indicated one surface of the medium has an outer circumferential surface which includes a small-diameter portion whose diameter is smaller than that of the other portions. The small-diameter portion is aligned with the printing area in a direction of width of the medium perpendicular to the printing direction, so that the small-diameter portion is prevented from contacting the printed image. The feed rollers may be replaced by a platen roller of a printer.

  • Patent number: 5066152
Abstract: A recording apparatus having a printing device for printing on a recording tape, a tape feeding device for feeding a multi-layered tape in a longitudinal direction of the multi-layered tape, and a cutter mechanism for cutting the multi-layered tape. The multi-layered tape includes the recording tape printed by the printing device, and a backing tape superposed on the printed length of the recording tape via an adhesive layer provided therebetween. The cutter mechanism is adapted to cut the multi-layered tape into cut segments, such that each cut segment has at least one partial cut formed through only a thickness of the backing tape.
