  • Patent number: 6466892
Abstract: Based on the maximum value of distances between vertexes of polygons in a plurality of polygon meshes, the size of voxel is determined. Next, respective potential values for a plurality of polygon meshes are obtained on the basis of signed respective distances of voxels and a sum of the potential values is obtained as an added potential value. A polygon mesh made of an equivalent: face of the added potential value is defined as a surface mesh. Comparison between the surface mesh and the a plurality of original polygon meshes is performed, to determine respective vertexes (corresponding-vertexes) of a plurality of original meshes corresponding to each vertex of the surface mesh. The polygons of the surface mesh is divided/synthesized to obtain intermediate surface data. Referring to the original polygon meshes, respective vertexes of the intermediate surface data are moved.

  • Publication number: 20020131056
Abstract: When a scanning start position set signal is input in an area image sensor, the content is transferred to a vertical scanning circuit, and the scan start position is set. Image of a desired row is read by horizontal scanning. Then, one shift signal for vertical scanning is input, the position of scanning is shifted by one row, and horizontal scanning is performed. Thus image of the next row is read. By repeating this operation, a desired strip-shaped image is read. The shape of the object is determined and when a portion is determined to have complicated shape, the image data is input by means of a lens having long focal length, and image data of other portions are input by means of a lens having short focal length. By putting together a plurality of input image data, image data as a whole is generated.

  • Publication number: 20020054047
Abstract: The present invention aims at realizing displaying of a realistic image of a conversation scene in which a speaker can be visually recognized by people watching this image regardless of the content of the image. To this end, according to the present invention, a two-dimensional or three-dimensional face model is deformed, and animations A1i through A3i which express a state in which a person is speaking are consequently created and displayed as auxiliary images.

  • Patent number: 6346949
Abstract: In a processor for generating a three-dimensional form model, data MX on an object having a three-dimensional form are read, while two-dimensional color image GX1 are read in correspondence to the form data MX. Then, color boundaries are discriminated in the color image GX1, and the form data MX are thinned except portions in correspondence to the color boundaries. Thus, the amount of data is reduced without losing information on the color boundaries of the form.

  • Publication number: 20020013684
Abstract: The invention provides a method for generating a three-dimensional model by modifying a standard model based on measured data without causing a topical improper modification. In the method, it is decided whether to further modify the standard model or to finish the modification of the standard model based on integrated evaluation of two or more functions selected from a first function relating to a distance between the standard model and the measured data, a second function relating to a distance between a characteristic point defined on the standard model and a characteristic point specified on the measured data and corresponding to the characteristic point defined on the standard model and a third function relating to a distance between an outline defined on the standard model and an outline specified on the measured data and corresponding to the outline on the standard model.

  • Publication number: 20020013683
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for fitting a surface to a point group using computer. The method enables to prevent an improper modification or an erroneous modification even when the point group includes a point having a low reliability, thus to achieve proper modification. The method comprises a first step for judging reliability of each of points composing the point group and a second step for changing the method for fitting the surface to the point group based on the result of judgment of the first step. In the second step, the method for fitting is changed by varying weights of the points based on the reliabilities.

  • Publication number: 20010015728
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to automatically determine the orientation of a newly generated surface, etc. when performing such processing as filling a dropout portion of three dimensional shape data, and to generate more natural three dimensional shape data. The present invention provides a method for generating a grid-patterned surface in three dimensional shape data, and comprises a first step (#11) for detecting the orientation of a polygon in the three dimensional shape data that is located at a periphery of a surface to be fitted, a second step (#12) for determining the orientation of the surface so that a grid orientation of the surface matches the orientation of the detected polygon, and a third step (#13) for fitting the surface onto the three dimensional shape data while maintaining the thus determined orientation.

  • Patent number: 6141105
Abstract: This invention is related to a three-dimensional measuring device for measuring three-dimensional positions of an objects. The three-dimensional measuring device comprises an optical projection system and an optical reception system. In a preliminary measurement prior to an actual measurement, the optical projection system projects slit light beam on the object with varying projection angle with in a narrow range, and the optical reception system receives the slit light beam reflected by the object and generates image signals corresponding to an amount of the received light synchronously with variation of the projection angle. Measurement conditions including intensity of the light beam and the projection angle for the actual measurement are set in accordance with the image signals of the actual measurement. Under the measurement conditions, the actual measurement is executed by projecting the light beam on the object with varying the projection angle within a wide range.

  • Patent number: 6128405
Abstract: In reproducing an object from a plurality of geometric models representing the shape of the object as viewed from different directions around an axis, each of the models is rotated about an axis specified by axis data, a region of each of the models overlapping another one of the models is extracted, and the degree of displacement in the entire set of the models is calculated. This operation is repeated to output a set of the geometric models as rotated about the axis when the degree of displacement is minimum. In this way, a group of items of shape data is obtained which represents a plurality of geometric models corresponding to one object and matched in position with high accuracy.

  • Patent number: 5990895
Abstract: Three-dimensional data processing device and three-dimensional data processing method for splicing together two pieces of three-dimensional data taken from different directions. Three-dimensional data and two-dimensional image data pertaining to a target object are inputted by a three-dimensional input camera from various directions. Two color images which are based on the two-dimensional image data inputted from two different directions are displayed on a display of a personal computer, and points of the two color images are specified by an operator. Two pieces of three-dimensional data corresponding to the two-dimensional image data are spliced together based on the points of the two color images (two-dimensional image data) by the personal computer.
