  • Patent number: 5272773
Abstract: Support portions are integrally molded on an inner surface of a helmet shell made of synthetic resin for supporting folded-back portions of a chin belt, and belt holes, through which the chin belt is passed, are provided in a shock-absorbing liner in correspondence to the support portions. Thus, the chin belt can be simply attached to a cap body without use of any separate support plate and rivet, thereby providing a cost reduction and a better external appearance.

  • Patent number: 5212843
Abstract: A helmet includes a cap body which is provided with a chin cover portion defining the lower edge of a window opening formed on the front surface of the cap body and a shield plate on the cap body for closing the window opening. The helmet is formed so that a shell of the cap body is divided at a position of the chin cover portion into an upper shell portion and a lower shell portion which are superposed and connected with each other with the lower shell portion positioned on the outer side of the upper shell portion, a distribution chamber communicating with the interior of the cap body through a plurality of jet ports is defined between the upper shell portion and the lower shell portion at the chin cover portion, and an air introducing port in communication with the distribution chamber and opening to the front surface of the chin cover portion is provided in the lower shell portion.

  • Patent number: 5185889
Abstract: In a helmet shield system, a shield plate is comprised of a shield body covering a window opening in a front surface of a cap body, and an end plate pivotally mounted on the cap body, the shield body and the end plate being coupled to each other by eyelets. A click stop mechanism is provided between the end plate and a base plate fixed to the cap body, and a cover is secured to cover the end plate. In this case, the shield body is formed from any of a polycarbonate, an acrylic resin, and a polyvinyl chloride, and the end plate is formed from any of a polyacetal, nylon and ABS. This provides a good view through the shield plate with a high transparence and an increased durability of the click stop mechanism which retains the shield plate at a desired opening degree.

  • Patent number: 5177817
Abstract: In a helmet, a cylindrical pivot is projectingly provided on an outer surface of a mounting base secured to left and right outer sides of a cap body. A first bayonet mechanism is provided between the pivot and an end of a shield having a pivot hole fitted over the pivot, and a second bayonet mechanism is provided between the pivot and an end cover covering the end of the shield to retain it. When the end cover is pivoted to a coupling position of the second bayonet mechanism, a projection of a resilient locking arm integral with the mounting base is automatically engaged into a retaining hole in the end cover. The shield can be mounted to the cap body without use of any screws and by a simple structure.

  • Patent number: 5170511
Abstract: In an air intake device in a helmet, an air introducing unit is comprised of a base plate, a cover, and a shutter contained in a shutter chamber defined between the base plate and cover, and the base plate is detachably secured to a mounting plate within a cap body at a point facing to an inlet hole in the cover. If an air intake device mounted to the cap body to ventilate the inside of the cap body becomes dirty due to the entering of dusts, muds or the like the shutter and the like of the air intake device can be removed and readily cleaned by washing with water or the like.
