    Abstract: Cooking oil contained in a fuel-fired deep fat frypot is heated utilizing a recirculating flow of combustion gas produced by an induced flow fuel-air burner. A squirrel cage type centrifugal fan draws a fuel-air mixture inwardly through the burner into an inlet chamber in which the combustion gas is formed. The hot combustion gas is discharged from the fan into a supply chamber, flowed from the supply chamber into and through external heating passages extending rearwardly along the opposite exterior side surfaces of the frypot, and then enters an external heating passage extending along the rear frypot wall. From this rear passage the combustion gas is drawn forwardly through generally triangularly shaped heating tubes extending horizontally through the frypot cooking zone, into and through a return plenum, into the fan where it is mixed with a fresh supply of combustion gas from the inlet chamber, and is then discharged into the supply chamber.

    Abstract: An improved rotor-type carburetor for use with an internal combustion engine is provided which, in one embodiment, is adjustable to selectively vary its constant fuel-air ratio by axially moving an internal body portion thereof relative to the turbine rotor assembly of the carburetor. Alternatively, the constant fuel-air ratio of the carburetor may be altered simply by replacing such internal body portion with a differently configured one. Undesirable fuel delivery from the turbine rotor to the engine during turbine spin-down is significantly diminished through the use of an internal fuel reservoir structure, formed within the carburetor body, which functions to capture and retain unneeded fuel discharged from the rotor during turbine spin-down periods. During turbine spin-up periods (e.g., when the engine is being started) the reservoir-retained fuel is released into the engine's incoming air stream to hasten fuel delivery to the engiune during initial portions of turbine spin-up periods.

    Abstract: An injection molded plastic turbine rotor for a rotor-type carburetor is assembled by simply pressing together upper and lower generally cylindrical sections. When joined in this manner the two sections form in the assembled rotor an internal circumferential seal between the two sections, and an internal passageway system which defines a centrifugal pump mechanism within the turbine rotor. In an alternate embodiment, the rotor includes a third plastic section which is captively retained within the rotor, between the upper and lower sections thereof, and is adapted to lockingly receive an end portion of a fuel supply tube inserted downwardly through a central opening formed through the upper section.

    Abstract: A repetitive combustion system for coating a work piece with particulate material is disclosed which utilizes an encapsulating tape having a plurality of discrete capsules each containing a predetermined quantity of the particulate coating material. The capsules are sequentially fed into a stripping chamber where the tape is clamped between inlet and outlet manifolds which provide a circumferential seal around the respective capsules so that pressure can be applied to an inlet face of the capsule. The inlet face is so configured as to admit air into the interior of the capsule which then swells and bursts the outlet face or otherwise passes through the outlet faces. The air pressure then injects the particulate material into the combustion chamber while the pressure in the combustion chamber is near the peak produced by combustion.
