  • Publication number: 20220312344
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for optimizing the scheduling of Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) transmissions in the downlink (DL) direction. A two-stage mechanism can be implemented when effectuating DL OFDMA transmission involving multiple modulation and coding schemes (MCS) in a single transmit burst. A first stage of the two-stage mechanism may use radio frequency (RF) boosting/de-boosting of Resource Units (RUs) such that the average input power to an AP power amplifier (PA) may remain under a saturated PA output power to ensure PA linearity. If RF boosting/de-boosting is not supported, an alternative mechanism for OFDMA grouping (to rigid grouping) can be employed to skip higher MCS.

  • Publication number: 20220256592
Abstract: Examples of triggered single user (SU) transmissions are described. In an example, an access point (AP) may send a SU trigger frame to a client device for initiating a data transmission by the client device. The AP may detect whether the data transmission is initiated within the Short Interframe Spacing (SIFS) after the SU trigger frame is sent. Responsive to detecting that the data transmission is not initiated within the SIFS, the AP waits for the client device to initiate the data transmission within a predefined time interval after the SIFS. Responsive to detecting that the data transmission is not initiated within the predefined time interval, the AP repurposes the channel access after the predefined time interval is elapsed. Responsive to detecting that the data transmission is initiated within the predefined time interval, the AP repurposes channel access after one of an expiration of a maximum transmission opportunity (TXOP) duration and a completion of the data transmission, whichever is earlier.

  • Patent number: 11405084
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for transmitting, by an access point, a trigger frame to a plurality of stations on a network. The trigger frame can be associated with a start of a sounding procedure for the plurality of stations to uplink (UL) beamform with the access point. A corresponding response frame can be received by the access point from each station of the plurality of stations. The corresponding response frame can be synchronized with other response frames in reception time. A beamforming feedback can be generated for the plurality of stations. At least a portion of the beamforming feedback can be transmitted to at least one station of the plurality of stations. A data transmission from the at least one station can be beamformed based on the portion of the beamforming feedback.

  • Patent number: 11375451
Abstract: The full efficiency gains of the Target Wake Time (TWT) mechanism specified in the 802.11ax standard may not be realized when stations associated to an access point (AP) are spread across multiple Base Station Service Identifiers (BSSIDs). In such a scenario, TWT as conventionally utilized/specified in the 802.11ax standard, cannot properly coordinate sleep/wake schedules for stations due to associating to different BSSIDs. Accordingly, various embodiments are directed to grouping stations associated to multiple BSSIDs of an AP to allow for the synchronization (or staggering) of TWT, and facilitate multi-user transmissions, both in the uplink and downlink directions.

  • Patent number: 11356133
Abstract: Systems and techniques are described that are directed to filter frequency response shift compensation, including attenuation compensation. Attenuation compensation can apply a pre-distortion to compensate for the magnitude of attenuated resource units (RUs). Additionally, filter frequency response shift can involve applying PHY Protocol Data Unit (PPDU) scheduling schemes. For example, a PPDU scheduling scheme can reduce bandwidth in the channel, thereby dropping the affected RUs. The attenuation compensation is implemented using front ends that provide feedback to a respective radio, which allows that radio to apply the appropriate pre-distortion. The front end can include one or more filters enabling frequency domain coexistence between collocated radios operating in the differing Wi-Fi bands, and a coupler that provides the feedback indicating the frequency response shift to a radio.

  • Publication number: 20220159670
Abstract: Systems and methods for grouping client devices for uplink multi-user transmission are provided. Client device groups may be determined based on at least one of traffic compatibility/similarity, client device class compatibility/similarity, and uplink pathloss similarity. A target received signal strength measured by an AP with which client devices in the client device groups communicate and an appropriate modulation coding scheme rate to be used by the client devices may be determined and set for the client devices. The modulation coding scheme rate can be adjusted based on feedback regarding successful data packet reception at the AP from each of the client devices.

  • Patent number: 11336487
Abstract: A system and method for optimizing a channel sounding procedure of a multi-link device (MLD) is disclosed. The improved channel sounding procedure disclosed herein involves an MLD requesting channel sounding information from a group of receivers on a first channel representing a first physical frequency, but receiving channel sounding information from a subgroup of the receivers on one or more other channels representing different physical frequencies. In this manner, the channel sounding procedure on a specific link of an MLD is optimized by offloading some of the sounding process to a different radio link that is also operational for the MLD as part of the same association context.

  • Publication number: 20220029668
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for optimizing channel bandwidth while increasing downlink multi-user, multiple-input, multiple-output (DL MU-MIMO) gain. Depending on the access point (AP) platform, for example, APs exhibit certain characteristics regarding DL MU-MIMO gain as a function of the number of DL MU-MIMO clients associated to the AP. Accordingly, APs can be configured to operate in accordance with an algorithm that checks the number of DL MU-MIMO capable clients are associated to an AP, and dynamically switch between single- and dual-radio modes of operation to take advantage of those DL MU-MIMO gains.
