  • Patent number: 8160345
Abstract: A custom arthroplasty guide and a method of manufacturing such a guide are disclosed herein. The guide manufactured includes a mating region configured to matingly receive a portion of a patient bone associated with an arthroplasty procedure for which the custom arthroplasty guide is to be employed. The mating region includes a surface contour that is generally a negative of a surface contour of the portion of the patient bone. The surface contour of the mating region is configured to mate with the surface contour of the portion of the patient bone in a generally matching or interdigitating manner when the portion of the patient bone is matingly received by the mating region.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 18, 2011
Date of Patent: April 17, 2012
    Assignee: OtisMed Corporation

  • Publication number: 20090274350
Abstract: Systems and methods for image segmentation in generating computer models of a joint to undergo arthroplasty are disclosed. Some embodiments may include a method of partitioning an image of a bone into a plurality of regions, where the method may include obtaining a plurality of volumetric image slices of the bone, generating a plurality of spline curves associated with the bone, verifying that at least one of the plurality of spline curves follow a surface of the bone, and creating a 3D mesh representation based upon the at least one of the plurality of spline curve.

  • Patent number: 7320592
Abstract: Methods and corresponding apparatus for segmenting an orthodontic treatment path into clinically appropriate substeps for repositioning the teeth of a patient include providing a digital finite element model of the shape and material of each of a sequence of appliances to be applied to a patient; providing a digital finite element model of the teeth and related mouth tissue of the patient; computing the actual effect of the appliances on the teeth by analyzing the finite elements models computationally; and evaluating the effect against clinical constraints. The appliances can be braces, polymeric shells, or other forms of orthodontic appliance.

  • Publication number: 20060020994
Abstract: Methods are provided for transmitting and navigating interlinked data using an interactive programming system. Pages of interlinked data are encoded at a network node, and data navigation information is generated for each page of the interlinked data. This data is then stored at the node. A user at a subscriber location, connected to the node by a television signal distribution network, is able to view a first page of the interlinked data, provided by the interactive programming system to the user's settop for display on a display device. The interactive programming system also provides the data navigation information to the user's settop. The interpreter within the user's settop creates a chaser, which is displayed at one of the links of the interlinked data and allows the user to navigate those links. The user may use the chaser to select a link, which is interpreted within the settop to provide a command signal identifying an action, such as sending another page of the data to the user's settop.

  • Patent number: 6948931
Abstract: A computer obtains a digital model of a patient's dentition, including a dental model representing the patient's teeth at a set of initial positions and a gingival model representing gum tissue surrounding the teeth. The computer then derives from the digital model an expected deformation of the gum tissue as the teeth move from the initial positions to another set of positions.
