Publication number: 20240023791Abstract: Systems and corresponding methods for an end-expandable optical fiber bundle are described herein. In one aspect, an endoscope can include a plurality of optical fibers each having a proximal end and a distal end; at least one camera coupled to the proximal ends of the plurality of optical fibers; and a sleeve enveloping the plurality of optical fibers proximate to the distal ends and repositionable along the length of the plurality of optical fibers, such that the sleeve is configured to control an angle of bend for each of the plurality of optical fibers as the optical fibers advance past the sleeve.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 25, 2021Publication date: January 25, 2024Applicants: Baylor College of Medicine, William Marsh Rice UniversityInventors: Elena Petrova, Sharmila Anandasabapathy, Rebecca Richards-Kortum

Patent number: 10955335Abstract: A non-contact photoacoustic spectrophotometry system is configured to measure an absorption spectrum of a material. The system includes a modulated light source such as tunable pulsed laser that generates laser pulses to produce photoacoustic signals in the material. A non-contact detector monitors the surface of the container for the material. The detector includes a second light source, such as a continuous wave laser, focused on the surface of the container, and transmits reflected light to an interferometer, for example, a Sagnac interferometer. The interferometer produces an interference signal from the received light that is proportional to the acoustic pressure, which is transmitted to a computer to calculate an absorption coefficient. Using a plurality of wavelengths from the tunable pulsed laser, an absorption spectrum may be generated.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2019Date of Patent: March 23, 2021Assignee: University of WashingtonInventors: Ivan Pelivanov, Matthew O'Donnell, Elena Petrova, Soon Joon Yoon

Patent number: 10123707Abstract: Provided herein are system and methods for monitoring and guiding thermal therapy procedures within a human or animal tissue. The system comprises a therapeutic module configured to apply thermal treatment to a subject; an ultrasound imaging module; an optoacoustic imaging module; a processing module connected to both ultrasound and optoacoustic based imaging module; and an operating controlling module connected with said processing module and configured to manipulate at least one of said therapeutic module, ultrasound imaging module or optoacoustic imaging module. The calibration method is able to eliminate the inconsistency of optoacoustic based temperature measurements caused by sample-to-sample and spatial variations of Gruneisen parameter for different tissues. The method for temperature-structure imaging is able to generate both two dimensional and three dimensional co-registered structure and temperature images for the tissues inside a region of interest of a subject.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 2015Date of Patent: November 13, 2018Assignee: TomoWave Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: Alexander A. Oraevsky, Elena Petrova, Sergey Ermilov

Patent number: 8825594Abstract: Example systems and methods are directed at maintaining and retrieving presence metadata. One example method includes receiving a request from a first client to edit a document file, and sending short-term check out metadata to the first client to begin an editing session. The method also includes writing the transition ID to a transition table stored in a cache, wherein the presence of another transition ID in the cache indicates that a document has switched from a single-client mode to a multi-client mode. An example system includes a processing unit operative to receive a document, the document including short-term check out metadata indicating an editing session has begun, ping a cache to determine if another transition ID is stored in the cache, and send a transition ID to a transition table stored in a cache to switch from a single-client mode to a multi-client mode.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2008Date of Patent: September 2, 2014Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Simon Skaria, Naresh Kannan, Simon Peter Clarke, Miko Arnab Sakhya Singha Bose, Christopher J. Antos, Mark Rolland Knight, Andrew G. Carlson, Don Adam Hedgpeth, Mitesh Pankaj Patel, Andrew Sean Watson, Jonathan B. Bailor, Elena Petrova

Patent number: 8429753Abstract: Examples are related to systems and methods for controlling access to document files on a document server. One example system includes document files stored on a document server, at least one of the document files referencing a file lock, and a document access processing module. The example document access processing module includes a file sharing processing module that determines a coauthoring status of a software application of a client computer requesting access to the document file, and a file lock processing module that stores one or more file locks and that controls the setting and resetting of file locks. The example document access processing module uses the coauthoring status of the software application and the file lock status of a document file to determine whether a software application is permitted to have write access to the document file.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2008Date of Patent: April 23, 2013Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Simon Skaria, Naresh Kannan, Simon Peter Clarke, Miko Arnab Sakhya Singha Bose, Christopher J.
