Abstract: A hemostasis analyzer, such as the Thrombelastograph® (TEG®) hemostasis analyzer is utilized to measure continuously in real time, the hemostasis process from the initial fibrin formation, through platelet-fibrin interaction and lysis to generate blood hemostasis parameters. The measured blood hemostasis parameters permit evaluation of hemostasis therapies including anticoagulation therapies such as direct thrombin inhibition therapies.

Abstract: A cooking appliance including a pair of cooking plates pivotally mounted to each other by a slideable hinge at one end. Stops at their opposite ends are pre-settable to a first position permitting two-surface contact with the food article, or a second position supporting one cooking plate in spaced parallel relationship with respect to the other cooking plate to permit single-surface contact with the food article. At least one of the said cooking plates carries on its outer surface a removable tray communicating with the interior of the cooking appliance for receiving drippings accumulating within the cooking appliance during a cooking operation.

Abstract: A cooking device particularly useful for cooking pasta, includes: an elongated receptacle for receiving the pasta to be cooked and water to be heated for cooking the pasta, the receptacle being closed at one end and open at its opposite end; a sieve attached to the open end of the receptacle for removing the water after the pasta has been cooked therein; and a cover attached over the sieve for covering the sieve during the cooking of the pasta, and detachable therefrom to permit removing the water from the receptacle via the sieve after the pasta has been cooked. Detachment of the cover from the sieve is facilitated by inter-engaging cam surfaces effective, upon the initial rotation of the cover, to move the cover axially outwardly with respect to the sieve in order to release to the atmosphere any negative pressure generated within the receptacle by condensation of vapors or cooling of the water.

Abstract: A cooking appliance, includes a pair of cooking plates pivotally mounted to various angular positions, including a vertical position. Each plate is formed, centrally of its lower edge in the vertical position of the two plates, with a ribbed formation defining a drain channel for draining from the plates fluids emanating from the food article during the cooking thereof between the plates. A disposable food holder is provided including a pair of panels of heat-resistant sheet material joined to each other to define a compartment for holding the food article during the cooking thereof, the compartment having a small drain opening aligned with the drain channel of the cooking plates for draining fluids emanating from the food article.

Abstract: Apparatus for measuring hemostasis includes a container for holding a sample to be tested and a bobber configured to be buoyantly suspended on the sample. A magnet is secured to the bobber. A drive assembly is coupled to the container for driving the container in an oscillating motion. A magnetic field generator is disposed adjacent the container and configured to generate a magnetic field in the vicinity of the magnet. A magnetic field strength detector is disposed adjacent the container, and the magnetic field strength detector is configured to sense changes in the magnetic field as a result of movement of the bobber and magnet responsive to the oscillating motion of the container and clotting of the sample.

Abstract: A sample retention apparatus for use in a device for measuring hemostasis. The device for measuring hemostasis may include a sample articulation apparatus including a guide shaft coupled for articulating motion to a drive motor, a sample carrier secured to and axially moveable along the guide shaft between a sample ready position, a sample testing position and a sample ejection position. The sample carrier therefore articulates in unison with the articulating motion of the guide shaft. A measuring apparatus may include a sensing column. The sample retention apparatus may include a sample cup defining a volume within which a sample may be disposed. The sample cup may be adapted to be operably positioned within an aperture formed within the sample carrier. The sample testing apparatus may also include a sample pin that is engageable with the sensing column. The sample pin may include a tip portion for extending into the sample cup.
