Abstract: A bed rest apparatus for supporting a human body and relieving bedsores includes a compressible pad that encloses a plurality of crosswise fluid-filled channels. The crosswise channels are closed on one end and open on the other end. The compressible pad is placed upon a mattress or chair to support as patient. The apparatus further includes a fluid pump distributor with an attached fluid reservoir and a plurality of flexible transfer tubes that connect the open end of each crosswise channel to the fluid pump distributor. The pump distributor delivers fluid from the fluid reservoir to the flexible transfer tubes to fill the crosswise channels with fluid. The pump distributor temporally varies the pressure of the fluid in the crosswise channels, thus relieving pressure points on the patient and preventing bedsores.
