    Abstract: The present invention relates to a disposable, absorbent article having a liquid impervious backsheet layer, a liquid permeable topsheet layer disposed in facing relation with the backsheet layer, an absorbent layer interposed between the backsheet layer and the topsheet layer, and a fabric layer interposed between the backsheet layer and the absorbent layer. Preferably, the article further contains a second fabric layer disposed in facing relation with the first fabric layer and a scrim support layer interposed between and laminated to each of the fabric layers. These articles are useful for containing liquids such as those commonly encountered in medical, nursing, health care, hospital, laboratory and industrial fields. Due to their high tensile strength these articles are particularly useful in moving medical patients.
