It has unexpectedly been found that the preservative system according to the present invention results in a synergistic preservative effect. This synergistic preservative effect allows for the use of a reduced amount of the preservative component when formulating a cosmetic composition, which in turn results in a composition with reduced irritation potential and reduced material costs.
