  • Patent number: 8207945
Abstract: An image display including a touch-sensitive display, that creates tactile sensation and movement of an object (3-2) along its surface is provided. Actuators including conductive rods (4-111, 4-112) attached together may be used, such that each rod of the actuator (4-11) may increase or decrease in size when current is applied to that rod to cause the actuator to bend toward a specified direction. Also, an image display that includes ball bearings (1-10) whose rotation is controlled by driving magnets (1-21, 1-22) to cause an object to move is provided. Further, air holes (3-11) tilted in various directions to control object movement by air pressure may be provided. Moreover, rods (3-10) may be moved up or down as activated by driving magnets (2-20). The actuators, rods, ball bearing assemblies, or holes may provide touch sensitivity for the image display.

  • Publication number: 20110265851
Abstract: The present invention proposes a posture-adjustable solar-collecting window blind, which can adjust the position of solar cells to better collect solar energy. In the window blind, a solar detector and an ampere meter are used to detect the relationship between the incident angle of sunlight and an optimal arrangement of the solar detector. The relationship can be further used to adjust the positions of the plurality of solar cells. Furthermore, the window blind comprises a light sensor to detect the light intensity of a target area, which can be complementarily used to adjust the position of the plurality of solar cells.

  • Publication number: 20110022396
Abstract: The invention relates to the automatic creation of an atmosphere, particularly a lighting atmosphere, based on a keyword input such as a keyword typed or spoken by a user. A basic idea of the invention is to enable a user of an atmosphere creation system such as a lighting system to automatically create a specific atmosphere by simply using a keyword which is input to the system. The keyword, for example “eat”, “read”, “relax”, “sunny”, “cool”, “party”, “Christmas”, “beach”, may be spoken or typed by the user and may enable the user to find and explore numerous atmospheres in an interactive and playful way in embodiments of the invention. Finding atmosphere elements related to the keyword may be done in various ways according to embodiments of the invention. The invention allows also a non expert in designing or creating atmosphere scenes to control the creation of a desired atmosphere in an atmosphere creation system.

  • Patent number: 7861187
Abstract: A user interface provides a representation of content items that are selected based on a duration of time of a selection action of the content items if the duration of time of the selection action exceeds a given time interval. An association between a plurality of content items may be used to determine the growth of the selection indication including at least one of a rate of growth, a shape of growth, and the time interval prior to growth of the selection indication. A system may sense at least one of a proximity of a content items to a selected content item and an association between content items, and grows the selection indication at a rate and/or shape and/or other representation that is determined by the proximity and/or association.

  • Patent number: 7731387
Abstract: The present invention relates to a lighting device (1) comprising a lighting unit (2) and a user interface (3) for controlling the lighting color and/or intensity of the lighting unit (2). The user interface (3) comprises a physical object (4), which is shaped as a polyhedron, for instance a cube. Orienting the physical object (4), i.e. choosing which side is up, serves to select the color, and rotating the physical object (4) about the side on which it rests serves to change the intensity setting. The user interface (3) generates an output signal, which is the input for a processing unit (9). This processing unit (9) converts this signal into a driving signal suitable for controlling the lighting unit (2).

  • Publication number: 20100084996
Abstract: A lighting interaction system (100) includes at least one light source (140) to provide illumination and/or a light effect having variable light attributes, and a selection indicator (230) having a plurality of indicators associated with light settings. A selector (210) having a pointer (220) which is configured to point to a first indicator of the selection indicator (230), due to rotation of the selector (210) or the selection indicator (230). Activation of the selector (210) controls the light source(s) (140) to provide light having first light attributes associated with the first indicator. In a dynamic mode, alignment of the pointer (220) with the various indicators changes as a function of time to point to different indicators and change the first light attributes in accordance with the currently aligned indicator.

  • Patent number: 7675238
Abstract: The present invention relates to a lighting system (1) with a user interface (3) for controlling the lighting color and/or intensity of a lighting unit (2) determining the lighting conditions in a room. The user interface (3) is based on a system comprising a detection device (4) and transponders (6). Bringing the transponders (6) within the detection device (4) so that they will be detected causes the transponders (6) to send a response signal, which signal controls the lighting color and/or intensity of the lighting unit (2). Each transponder (6) is programmed to control a particular color or a specific light intensity.

  • Publication number: 20100019922
Abstract: Simple gestures such as stroking or tapping of a surface (10) can be used to control common functions of electronic systems (16) by positioning one or more sensors (12) on the surface and detecting sounds generated by the interaction with the surface. Signals corresponding to detected sounds are filtered and interpreted either in the system to be controlled or else in the sensors themselves. The direction of movement of a hand (18) stroking the surface can be interpreted as a command to increase or decrease a parameter, such as the sound volume level of a television, for example. Determination of the position of the user's hand is unnecessary. The apparatus is therefore simple, inexpensive, robust and discrete, requiring only a minimum of installation and without being necessarily dedicated to a particular electronic system to be controlled.

  • Publication number: 20100017723
Abstract: An apparatus (1) for introducing dependencies between user-interfaces (120) of devices (100) and for example audio/video signals to be rendered via the devices (100) is provided with a circuit (2,3,4) for linking values of transfer parameters of the signals and values of quality parameters of the user-interfaces (120), to increase the user-friendliness. A given first (second) transfer of the audio/video signal results in a first (second) quality of the user-interface (120), and a chosen first (second) quality of the user-interface (120) results in a first (second) transfer of the audio/video signal. The quality may be a quality of a “skin” or a “look and feel” or an input property or an output property of the user-interface (120). The transfer may be expressed in bandwidth, resolution, number of colors or grey values, sample rate, frequency characteristic and costs.
