  • Publication number: 20020184707
Abstract: A support pad that includes a main body section having a front fabric panel and a rear fabric panel between which is disposed a quantity of a soft fluffy material. A central flap and two lateral or side flaps are attached to the main body section along one side thereof, the side flaps being disposed on opposite sides of the central flap. One of the side flaps is spaced from the central flap by a distance which is substantially larger than a spacing between the central flap and another of the side flaps, the distance being sufficiently great to define a cutout or gap for receiving an ancillary pad or pillow support.

  • Patent number: 6353943
Abstract: A flexible, absorbent, fabric mat or cover is removably affixed to a bathtub over the side or lip thereof. The fabric is advantageously terry cloth. Particularly where a bather's hand is wet or soapy, the coefficient of friction of the bathtub lip is substantially improved relative to an uncovered porcelain or enamel coated bathtub. Safety is improved even if the terry cloth inadvertently becomes saturated with water, and the device is readily removable for washing and readily washable.

  • Patent number: 6256804
Abstract: A pillow-like protector and body support device having a central section stuffed with polyurethane and covered with soft hypoallergenic material is provided with cut-away air gaps and medial seams that form air grooves or channels. The pillows and supports are made for supporting various body parts, e.g., the neck, shoulder, torso, elbows, and tailbone. Many of the pillows/supports are capable of being used together into an integrated system for alleviating bedsores and other medical problems associated with sitting or lying in the same position for long periods of time. One embodiment of the invention relates to a coccyx protector and is adapted to slip over a bedpan. In addition, embodiments are disclosed related to breast supports. One version is a small pillow/protector with an airflow pocket. Another version is sling-like and includes an air circulation seam for the skin just beneath the pillow. Yet another version of the breast support for protecting both breasts.

  • Patent number: 5103516
Abstract: A system of pressure point pillow-like devices is disclosed. The system includes a relatively large pillow-like device of a size and configuration to be disposed beneath the person when lying down and having an opening therethrough in the area of the person's coccyx with a slot extending therefrom to provide for air circulation. Knee rests extend out from each side of the large pillow-like device to accommodate the person when on their side. A thigh rest is of a size to cooperate with and from an extension of the relatively large pillow-like device to accommodate the person's thighs. Scapula-elbow-arm rests are also provided for that area of the person's anatomy and each includes first and second pillow-like portions connected along a relatively thin line forming an air channel. Flaps are provided for each scapula-elbow-arm rest to connect one pillow portion to another. Elbow and heel protectors are also included in the system.
