  • Patent number: 6154632
Abstract: A picture distribution service system carries out a distribution control of picture information service in a broadband transit switching network having a hierarchical structure. The system comprises a plurality of transit switches for switching transit lines through which picture information is transmitted from a source and distributed by a center switch, a first trunk part provided for each of the transit switches for distributing the picture information from the center switch to the transit lines, a plurality of subscriber switches for switching subscriber lines through which the picture information from each of the transit lines is transmitted to a plurality of subscriber terminals, and a second trunk part provided for each of the subsriber switches for distributing the picture information from each of the transit switches to the subscriber lines.

  • Patent number: 5953334
Abstract: An ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) switching system is capable of performing a charging process, while suppressing a data communication amount used to acquire data required for a charging process. The ATM switching system is arranged by comprising: a charging data processing unit for counting a quantity of transmitted ATM cells with respect to each of transmission destinations, and for notifying the count value as charging data; a charging information processing unit for requesting the charging data processing unit to notify the charging data, and for notifying charging information produced based on the charging data; and a control unit for requesting the charging information processing unit to notify the charging information.

  • Patent number: 5712847
Abstract: Switches connected via transmission lines, wherein one switch has a bidirectional mode, while the other switch has a unidirectional mode. To realize line switching when a failure occurs, the switches function to switch signals from a working transmission line to a protection transmission line. The switch having the bidirectional mode switches concurrently both first and second direction paths from a working transmission line to a protection transmission line. The switch having the unidirectional mode switches either one of the first and second direction paths from the working transmission line to the protection path. When the second switch switches to send signals via the first direction path of the protection transmission, the first switch notifies the second switch as if a fault occurred in the second direction path of the working transmission line.

  • Patent number: 5602907
Abstract: During an execution of communications between an originating terminal and a receiving terminal which are connected through an ISDN, when an item of information saying that a rate at which charges for the communications are shared between these terminals is changed to a given rate is transmitted from either the originating terminal or the receiving terminal to the ISDN, the communication charges after transmitting this item of information are imposed on the originating terminal and/or the receiving terminal in accordance with this rate presented. If an agreement of the other terminal is not obtained on this occasion, the charges are imposed on the originating terminal and/or the receiving terminal in accordance with an original accounting rate or the rate presented from the other terminal.

  • Patent number: 5572518
Abstract: The invention is to offer a technology with which a call process, a band setting process in particular, from a unit of terminal equipment to a network can be effectively performed, in relation to a communication system in which a communication band necessary for a unit of terminal equipment is secured by transmitting a SETUP message to a network from the terminal equipment as in the case of a call procedure in B-ISDN, etc. In the communication control of the terminal equipment connected to the network, when a call is made if the securing of a band in the network is impossible, the call is cut off, but if the band area in the network is insufficient for an initial band value stored in a SETUP message, a revised band value is produced by subtracting a certain value from the initial band value, and a SETUP message with the revised band value is retransmitted to the network.

  • Patent number: 5479402
Abstract: A logical channel setting system is applied to an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network which is coupled to terminal equipments which are in conformance with a high performance parallel interface (HIPPI) via respective terminal adapters which are in conformance with the HIPPI. The logical channel setting system includes a call part, provided in a transmitting terminal adapter, for setting a logical channel in the ATM network in response to a request signal which is ON and is received from a transmitting terminal equipment which is coupled to the transmitting terminal adapter, and a disconnect part, provided in the transmitting terminal adapter, for releasing the logical channel which is previously set in the ATM network in response to a request signal which is OFF and is received from the transmitting terminal equipment which is coupled to the transmitting terminal adapter.
