  • Publication number: 20150374454
Abstract: The present invention relates to a dental apparatus for a dental treatment within a mouth. The dental apparatus comprises a gripping body, a functional device which is adapted for a treatment into the mouth and an acceleration sensor which is arranged within the gripping body. The acceleration sensor is adapted for measuring at least one component of an acceleration of the gripping body. The dental apparatus further comprises a control unit which is arranged within the gripping body, wherein the control unit is coupled to the acceleration sensor for receiving an acceleration signal which is indicative of the acceleration of the at least one component of the gripping body. The control unit is further coupled to the functional device for controlling the functional device on the basis of the acceleration signal.

  • Patent number: 7021798
Abstract: The invention relates to mirrors for use in confined spaces which are subject to being covered by fluids and debris, principally dental mirrors, for use by dentists and similar medical professionals. The mirror assembly includes a head portion and a handle portion. The head portion includes a housing with a rotor assembly and a rotor drive means. In accordance with the invention, a secondary member has a reflective surface. The mirror assembly includes attachment means for removably attaching the secondary member with respect to the rotor assembly so that the reflective surface can be replaced when degraded. In use, the rotor drive means spins the rotor assembly and with it the secondary member to remove fluids and debris that may fall on the reflective surface so that vision when using the reflective surface is not impaired by such fluids or debris. Advantageously the attachment means include magnetic components although mechanical attachment means may also be used.

  • Patent number: 6991356
Abstract: A light source which may be used as part of a dental curing lamp is comprised of at least one, and preferably a plurality, of LEDs. To increase the efficiency of the light output the LEDs are encapsulated in a beam converger including an extractor portion and a collimator portion. Light rays leaving the collimator portion have an angle which matches the entrance angle input requirements of an associated light guide. In another aspect, cooling of LEDs is accomplished by reservoirs located in a hand piece and in a base station. In another aspect of the invention, cooling is achieved by use of a heat pipe and a cooling jacket. The cooling jacket may contain a material having a high latent heat of fusion at a phase change temperature suitable for cooling the LEDs.
