Publication number: 20230136728Abstract: This disclosure includes, and results in the creation of, a printed carbon nanotube and/or graphene hybrid antenna and/or EMI shield, comprised of a conductive layer that comprises a metal mesh (MM) layer or a nanowire layer on a substrate, with a printed Signal Enhancement Layer (SEL) on the conductive layer. The SEL includes an ink that includes one or both of carbon nanotube (CNT) and graphene. The circuit pattern results after the “exposed” conductive layer (i.e., the regions where the CNT/graphene ink is not printed) is removed via chemical etching or mechanical cutting. The structure (the antenna/EMI shield) is preferably but not necessarily transparent.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 25, 2022Publication date: May 4, 2023Inventors: Robert F. Praino, David J. Arthur, Emiliano Mezzarobba, Daniel Skiba

Patent number: 11469489Abstract: An electrically small antenna operable in both single-ended and differential antenna systems, and corresponding circuitry configurations, is provided. The antenna may be arranged on or in a wearable audio device, such as an earbud. The antenna may include a first curved arm electrically coupled to a first port. The antenna may include a second curved arm of equal size and equal shape as the first curved arm and electrically coupled to a second port. The second curved arm may be rotationally positioned 180 degrees, relative to the first curved arm, about an imaginary axis perpendicular to a surface of the wearable audio device. The single-ended antenna system may include a radio frequency integrated circuit (“RFIC”), fixed matching network, a tuneable capacitor, and a switching circuit. The differential antenna system may include an RFIC, fixed matching network, a tuneable capacitor, and a balun.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2020Date of Patent: October 11, 2022Assignee: Bose CorporationInventors: Arun Venkatasubramanian, Hallam Arthur William Collings, Pablo Fernandez Medina, Mohammed Alexander Shalaby, Arpan Pal, Emiliano Mezzarobba, Carl Matthew Clement

Patent number: 10424842Abstract: A terrestrial transceiver is described, which is operable for exchanging RF signals with communication satellites. The transceiver has a patch antenna sensitive to signals within an L-Band RF range and operable for providing a gain to the RF signals. A metallic reflector of a characteristic dimension is operable for shaping a pattern of the RF gain of the patch antenna. A printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) has a dielectric substrate, an electronic component disposed upon the substrate, and a hole penetrating the substrate and disposed substantially within a central region thereof. Based on the dimension characteristic of the reflector and on a positioning and/or a dimension of the hole, the RF gain diverges over an angle from a boresight of the patch antenna.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 2016Date of Patent: September 24, 2019Assignee: Hand Held Products, Inc.Inventors: Richard Lewis Davies, Emiliano Mezzarobba
