  • Patent number: 8029693
Abstract: A method for the rapid dilution of an aqueous peracid solution, particularly, peracetic acid, in which a concentrated peracid solution is diluted with an aqueous diluent to produce a more dilute peracid solution in which the solution components are already at equilibrium immediately after dilution. The peracid in a preferred embodiment of this method is peracetic acid, for which the aqueous diluent is acetic acid and water, or hydrogen peroxide and water, or acetic acid, hydrogen peroxide and water, whose relative amounts are selected to produce a diluted aqueous peracid acid solution whose peracetic acid, hydrogen peroxide and acetic acid components are in equilibrium immediately after dilution.

    Assignee: FMC Corporation
Inventors: Emmanuel A. Dada, Donald S. Lapham, III, Joseph C. Richards
  • Publication number: 20100021558
Abstract: A method for stabilizing a dilute peracetic acid solution containing less than about 5 wt % peracetic acid by controlling the concentration of hydrogen peroxide and the mole ratio of hydrogen peroxide to acetic acid and by introducing a stabilizer to provide sequestering activity. The method is particularly useful for the long-term stabilization of dilute peracetic acid solutions. Stabilized dilute peracetic acid solutions are also within the scope of this invention.

  • Publication number: 20060233695
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for the production of hydrogen peroxide by direct catalytic reaction of hydrogen and oxygen that uses as a catalyst, a platinum group metal on an acidified support. The present invention also provides a sol-gel catalyst for use in the process and a process for the preparation of the catalyst.

  • Patent number: 5328972
Abstract: A process for preparing polymers having molecular weights below 5,000 and polydispersity below 2.5 is provided. The polymerization is conducted in supercritical carbon dioxide at temperatures of at least 200.degree. C. and pressures above 3,500 psi. The process can be continuous, semi-continuous, or batch. The polymers are useful as detergent additives, scale inhibitors, dispersants and crystal growth modifiers.
