  • Patent number: 6374585
Abstract: This rotary cutting head uses relatively short, individually retained, cutting line filaments. It includes, between its periphery and a central recess, at least one radial passageway of cross section corresponding to twice the cross section of a filament. Each filament passes through the corresponding passageway a first time and is folded through 180° in the recess, in order to pass through the passageway a second time, the 180° folding of the filament forming a lateral swelling which ensures its retention.

  • Patent number: 6256886
Abstract: This method, offering quiet, pollution-free cutting, consists in emitting at least one pressurized jet of water which is directed at and moved over the vegetation to be cut, the pressurized jet or jets of water being themselves the cause, by mechanical reaction, of their movement, in particular their rotary movement. The cutting device that puts this method into effect comprises means for supplying water at pressure, and a rotating head provided at its periphery with at least one nozzle through which a cutting jet of water is ejected, the jet or jets of water generating, by reaction, rotation of the head and therefore of the jet or jets themselves. This device may be in the form of a portable appliance.

  • Patent number: 6171697
Abstract: The line (1) comprises a body (2) made of a polyamide or copolyamide, into which aramid or para-aramid polymer particles (3) of are inserted. This composition applies especially to cutting lines for brushcutters and trimmers, in order to avoid the phenomenon or “sticking” while at the same time improving the abrasion and wear resistance of the line.

  • Patent number: 6061914
Abstract: This cutting line intended to trim and cut vegetation can be used in rotary-head implements such as brush cutters and edge trimmers. The cutting line consists of a core made of biodegradable and/or photodegradable substance which is covered with a coating or "skin" made of a synthetic substance such as polyamide or polyurethane, forming the exterior surface of the line. Such a line can thus be broken down more rapidly after use, while at the same time retaining excellent mechanical qualities while it is being used.

  • Patent number: 6045911
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cutting filament intended for trimming and cutting vegetation, such a cutting filament being used on rotary-head motorized cultivators such as brush cutters and edge trimmers. During use such cutting filaments generate a substantial and unpleasant amount of high-frequent noise which is added to the noise of the motor for driving the rotary head. These noises lead to outdoor noise pollution. Legislatory requirements aiming to limit the noise to a level deemed to be acceptable are being drawn up and could shortly come into force. The cutting filament according to the present invention is characterized in that the cutting filament (1; 10') has undulations (2; 6; 12') that recur in the longitudinal direction of the cutting filament (1; 10').
