  • Patent number: 5376921
Abstract: A security system includes a magnet having a high magnetic field strength and wide flux area. Individuals seeking to enter or leave a secure area are directed so as to be in relatively close physical proximity to the magnet. Hard or soft ferrous material on the individual, which would be included in any items likely to be pilfered, are magnetized sufficient to generate a signal to a magnetometer, to which the individuals are proximately directed after passing the magnet. Detection of a magnetized, ferrous substance in the magnetometer causes the locking of a turnstile, forcing the individual to a secondary area. A magnetic card, unique to an individual, can also be utilized to facilitate identification of an individual prior to entry to the system, as well as to catalogue security breaches and ingress/egress times.

  • Patent number: 5357711
Abstract: A revolving door construction includes an elongated pivot column and a plurality of spaced barrier members arranged in at least one row wherein a first end of each of the barrier members is secured to the pivot column. A support bar is spaced from the pivot column. The support bar has a plurality of longitudinally spaced transverse apertures extending therethrough such that a respective one of the barrier members extends through a respective one of the support bar apertures. Fasteners are utilized to secure the support bar to the plurality of barrier members.

  • Patent number: 5088235
Abstract: A rotary gate control assembly includes a pivot rod on which the rotary gate is adapted to rotate and a cam having a continuous cam surface with a plurality of lobes disposed at spaced intervals therealong for defining a plurality of rotary gate home positions with the cam being operatively secured to the pivot rod. A first member, which can be a ball or a rod, is cooperatively positioned relative to the cam surface for selectively allowing a rotationaly movement of the cam generally for an angular extent at least equal to an angle defined between adjacent ones of the lobes. Preferably, a second such member is also cooperatively positioned relative to the cam surface for the same purpose. The second member is spaced from the first member.

  • Patent number: 4989368
Abstract: A revolving door includes an elongated pivot column having a plurality of integrally formed first grooves extending longitudinally therealong at equidistantly spaced intervals therearound. A plurality of barrier members are provided. At least one of the members is associated with each first groove and arranged to extend radially outward of the groove. A locking device is concealably contained and interposed between the side wall of each first groove and a terminal end of each barrier member mountingly associated with the groove for retaining the barrier member in the groove. The locking member includes a second groove which extends longitudinally along the side wall of each first groove and a rigid locking bar extending into the second groove. The locking bar has a round side and a flat side and is selectively rotatable to wedging engage a wall of the second groove and the terminal end of each barrier member.

  • Patent number: 4358909
Abstract: A new turnstile is provided which is constructed from a minimum number of different extruded components and includes an improved turnstile control mechanism. The turnstile is comprised of a plurality of upstanding, spaced mounting columns which define a frame-like structure. One mounting column includes a plurality of spaced apart barrier arms extending radially therefrom. Closure means extend between at least a pair of mounting columns which are spaced opposite the one column. A pivot column is rotatably journaled intermediate the one and the at least a pair of mounting columns and includes a plurality of longitudinal grooves. A plurality of pivot column arms associated with each pivot column groove extend radially therefrom at spaced apart intervals to permit free passage between the barrier arms when the pivot column is rotated.
