  • Patent number: 10612442
Abstract: An exhaust gas treatment device includes an exhaust gas guide element which has an exhaust gas conduit. A first flow separation element is disposed in the exhaust gas conduit that divides the exhaust gas conduit into a first partial conduit and a second partial conduit. The first flow separation element has a first conduit area. A second flow separation element is disposed in the second partial conduit. The second flow separation element divides the second partial conduit into a first sub-conduit, a second sub-conduit, and a third sub-conduit. The second flow separation element has a second conduit area which is cylindrical or expands in a flow direction. The first conduit area of the first flow separation element expands along an injection direction of a reductant.

  • Patent number: 8726853
Abstract: In a fuel supply system with a fuel supply pipe for pumping fuel from a fuel tank via a fuel supply pipe to a fuel injection device of an internal combustion engine, wherein a fuel filter including a water separator is arranged in the fuel supply pipe for removing water collected in the water separator and injecting it into an exhaust gas system, a fuel/water discharge arrangement is provided which includes a main pipe connected to the fuel filter, a branch pipe connected to a water collection region of the fuel filter and a mixing device arranged in the main pipe for mixing water to a fuel flow in the main pipe for injection into the exhaust gas system.

  • Patent number: 8200415
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling the operating mode of an internal combustion engine (1) comprising several cylinders (3) and an injection system (4) with one injection unit (5) per cylinder (3). According to said method: a digital measuring signal, which characterizes the combustion of fuel (6) in the internal combustion engine (1), is first determined; said digital measuring signal is then transformed into a frequency range; a misfiring of the ignition is detected using the amplitude information of the transformed measuring signal and if a misfiring has occurred, the injection of the individual cylinders (3) is deactivated sequentially for a predefined period and for each cylinder the corresponding digital measuring signal that characterizes said cylinder is determined and transformed into the frequency range and a misfiring cylinder (3) is identified during the evaluation of the transformed measuring signal using the amplitude information.

  • Patent number: 8096171
Abstract: In a method for the diagnostics of an internal combustion engine exhaust gas system that includes a particle filter, first and second sets of value vectors are determined, each including associated values for absolute pressure upstream and downstream of the particle filter, a differential pressure determined from the values of the absolute pressure, an exhaust gas volume flow through the particle filter, and a temperature of the exhaust gas volume flow. After a temperature-standardization of the pressure values, characteristics for dependence of the pressure values are generated from temperature-standardized values of the first set of value vectors and possibly stored as reference characteristics. By comparing temperature-standardized values for the absolute pressure on the inlet and outlet sides of the particle filter and the differential pressure of the second set of value vectors with reference characteristics, flow anomalies can be determined in the exhaust gas system.
