  • Patent number: 6306322
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and device for filling at least one casting mould (10) with a castable, liquid compound, in particular casting resin. In order to decrease the mould-occupation time considerably, the reactivity of the casting compound is firstly increased at least during the filling phase for the at least one casting mould (10) by the supply of energy and is then decreased by the removal of energy to a value at which the casting compound has a relatively long service life. Heat exchanges (7) are proposed as means for heating and, if necessary, cooling the casting compound.

  • Patent number: 5942258
Abstract: An apparatus for feeding fluid-flow substances composed of at least two mutually reacting components, in particular casting resin, the components being fed from piston-cylinder units (7, 8) associated with supply vessels (1, 2) and from there being conveyed to a mixing system (36). The piston-cylinder units (7, 8) are fitted with retraction capability for the conveyor pistons (17, 19). A drive system is provided to load the conveyor pistons (17, 19) with a pressurized fluid. The piston-cylinder units (17, 19) evince a displacement volume of which the lower limit is determined by the viscosity of the component to be conveyed and the stroke frequency of the conveyor pistons (17, 19) in relation to the required rate of conveyance. The displacement volume of the piston-cylinder units (7, 8) may be between 0.1 and 4 ltr, preferably being 1 ltr.

  • Patent number: 5860737
Abstract: A method for continuously mixing and degassing liquid, castable media, in particular components of casting resin or a casting-resin component with a filler such as quartz dust, aluminum oxide or dyes, and the equipment with which to implement the method. One object of the invention is to assure that casting-resin components are available in homogeneous and degassed form for further processing by either liquid components or a liquid component and a filler which are metered into a continuous degassing apparatus (1).

  • Patent number: 5551486
Abstract: The present disclosure concerns a method and apparatus for filling casting molds with casting resin or similar casting ready liquid media using a feed system including pumps or a pressurized vessel. In order to carry out mold filling in a prep-programmed and precisely reproducible manner, regarding the filling rate, the casting resin is fed according to a predetermined filling function of the quantity of casting resin per unit time (filling rate).

  • Patent number: 5545029
Abstract: Equipment, in particular pressure gelling equipment, is provided to fill one or more casting molds with castable, liquid materials of which the components are fed by pumps through closable conduits to at least one plunger-cylinder system from where the components are moved to a mixing chamber and from there to the particular casting mold. In order to process especially abrasive casting materials of high viscosity and short pot life, the invention provides that at least one plunger-cylinder system be operated at a pressure substantially higher than are the pumps and that the mixing-chamber volume be comparatively slight.

  • Patent number: 4317647
Abstract: A dosing system for one or more fluent materials, such as the components of an epoxy resin, has a support carrying a lever to which are attached at different locations the piston rods of one or more independent master cylinders. Respective conduits connect these master cylinders to respective slave cylinders in turn connected to respective stroke-type dosing pumps. The intakes of those pumps are connected to respective supplies of fluent materials and the outputs are connected to a common mixing recipient. A power cylinder connected between the lever and the support can therefore operate the master cylinders jointly to synchronously operate the respective slave cylinders and pumps to deliver to the mixing recipient volumes of the respective materials that form a ratio corresponding to that of the distances between the attachment locations for the respective master-cylinder piston rods on the lever and the pivot.

  • Patent number: 4307760
Abstract: Flowable thermosetting synthetic-resin material is fed to a plurality of pressurizable buffer compartments and then to a plurality of respective molds having differently dimensioned mold cavities. Each of these compartments is pressurized so as to maintain pressure on the molten material in the respective molds during the molding and curing operation, during which time the pumps that feed the material to the compartments may be stopped. Each of the buffer compartments has sensing means which operate the pumps of the system.

  • Patent number: 4279360
Abstract: A two-component molding system according to this invention has a pair of supplies each containing a quantity of a respective fluid synthetic-resin component capable of reacting and hardening with the other component. Respective conduits having upstream ends connected via pumps to the respective supplies and downstream ends connected via metering devices to a mixing chamber extend from these supplies. Molds are connected to the mixing chamber. A controller connected to the pumps and to the metering devices determines the pumping volume/time rates and compares them with the respective downstream actual volume/time rate at the downstream ends of the conduits. In the event that the actual rates are not substantially identical to the pumping rates, the controller sounds an alarm and shuts down the system.
