Abstract: Methods and systems for designing new products may comprise having rated a first plurality of existing products in a product field according to a second plurality of product attributes; assigning each of the said first plurality of existing products a location in a space having the said second plurality of dimensions, according to the said existing product's ratings with respect to the said second plurality of product attributes; locating the said first plurality of existing products in a space of a third plurality of dimensions; choosing a fourth plurality of reference products which sample the said space of the said third plurality of dimensions, from among the said first plurality of existing products; having conducted a consumer survey of the said fourth plurality of reference products; creating a map of consumer responses in the said space of the said third plurality of dimensions; and designing the said new product based upon the said map of consumer responses.

Abstract: Methods and systems for interactive evolutionary computing may include generating a set of candidate molecules based on an evolutionary scheme in which an objective function is a priori mathematically unexpressed, presenting data based on the set of candidate molecules to one or more users, receiving at least one input from the user(s), the input(s) based on the user(s)'s evaluation of the presented set of candidate molecules, and, based on the input(s), using at least the evolutionary scheme and the input(s) to generate an updated set of candidate molecules, and repeating the presenting and receiving.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems that include a method for controlling movement of a first unmanned vehicle (UV) to search an area, where the method includes generating a first trace associated with prior positions in which the first UV has been located, determining a direction in which the first UV is to move using the first generated trace, and causing the first UV to move in the determined direction. The trace may be a numerical value that decreases as a function of the time that has elapsed since the first trace was generated. The methods and systems may also include receiving data relating to a second trace, and using that second trace to determine the direction. The second trace may be generated by a second UV. The second trace may be associated with a position within a predetermined radius from a position associated with the first UV.

Abstract: In one example, a user is presented with information (e.g., the results of a search provided by a search component executing a search query). The user then subjectively evaluates the information presented pursuant to some metric (e.g., desirable/positive, undesirable/negative, neutral) to provide user feedback. The user feedback is evaluated using one or more evolutionary algorithms to generate a new search query, which may be executed by any one of a number of conventional search components (or a commercial or non-commercial website powered by a search component) to provide new information to the user. The foregoing process may be iterated any number of times, for example, until a user identifies desirable information. In some implementations, additional user interaction is permitted, such as modification of one or more descriptors/characteristics associated with presented information, and/or modification of a search query generated by the evolutionary algorithm(s).

Abstract: Disclosed are methods, systems, and/or processor program products that include generating a population of genotypes, the genotypes based on at least one stimulus to a system, measuring at least one response of the system upon providing the population of genotypes to at least one model of the system, and, based on the measured at least one response of the system, performing at least one of: (a) applying at least one genetic operator to at least some of the population of genotypes, and iteratively returning to generating a population of genotypes, and (b) associating a condition of the system with at least one of the population of genotypes.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods, systems, and processor program products that include executing an optimization scheme to obtain a first solution set, presenting the first solution set to at least two users, receiving rankings of the first solution set from the at least two users, aggregating the rankings, and, generating a second solution set based on the aggregated rankings. The optimization scheme can include a genetic algorithm. In embodiments, at least a part of the first solution set can be presented to the users based on the parts of the solution set associated with the user (e.g., user's knowledge).
