  • Patent number: 6920745
Abstract: A steel cord for the reinforcement of thermoplastic elastomers, the steel cord including more than one strand, each strand including two or more steel filaments, at least some of said the steel filaments being provided with a zinc coating. The zinc coating has a thickness lower than two micrometer and an alloy layer zinc-steel is present between the zinc coating and the steel.

  • Publication number: 20030131913
Abstract: A deformed metal composite wire (14) comprises a matrix (12) of a first metal having a first melting point. The composite wire also comprises two or more filaments (10) of a second or further metal embedded ion the matrix (12) and surrounded by the matrix (129. The second or further metal has a melting point which is higher or equal to the first melting point. Either the second or further metal is carbon steel or stainless steel in order to provide the necessary reinforcing or strengthening effect. The wire (14) is in a deformed state so that the two or more filaments (10) have a non-circular filament cross-section.

  • Publication number: 20030106300
Abstract: A steel cord (16) adapted for the reinforcement of thermoplastic elastomers comprises more than one strand (18, 20). Each strand comprises two or more steel filaments (22, 24, 26, 28). At least some of said steel filaments are provided with a zinc coating (40), characterized in that said zinc coating (40) has a thickness lower than two micrometer and that an alloy layer zinc-steel (42) is present between the zinc coating and the steel.

  • Patent number: 5215702
Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for guiding at least two steel wires from a furnace into a lead bath. The steel wires are kept separated, and, after leaving the furnace, guided over a cooled roller. The roller is turning at a peripheral speed that nearly equals the speed of the steel wires. After this, the steel wires disappear into the lead bath and are guided further under an immersed roller, the steel wires making an angle larger than 150.degree. over the cooled roller and under the immersed roller. The furnace-lead bath transition is sealed by a hood that lets through as little air as possible.
