  • Patent number: 11050763
Abstract: Techniques are described for managing a network through use of a security device that includes, or has access to, a blockchain node. The security device may manage a network of Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices in a home or other environment. The security device may act as an intermediary to manage secure, trusted communications between the IoT device(s) and external service(s). The security device may also provide network security features such as a network firewall. In some implementations, the security device may run a blockchain node, and the blockchain could be used to establish a verifiable home identity. The security device may interact with external resources and/or services, such as utility services, e-commerce services, and so forth, through this secure mechanism.

  • Patent number: 10837861
Abstract: A system configured to detect failure of a hose includes a sensor assembly having a body with a first arm and a second arm pivotally coupled to one another at respective first ends, and the body is configured to move between a closed position and an open position. The sensor assembly also includes a first electrical contact positioned at a respective second end of the first arm and a second electrical contact position at a respective second end of the second arm. The first electrical contact and the second electrical contact are configured to contact one another to form a complete electrical circuit when the body is in the closed position and are configured to be separated from one another to form an open electrical circuit when the body is in the open position to facilitate detection of the failure of the hose.

  • Patent number: 10671502
Abstract: A monitor device is configured to monitor a system, such as a utility system and/or appliance. The monitor device includes sensor(s) that measure characteristic(s) of the system, and data storage that stores parameter data that is provided from a remote service. The parameter data includes thresholds, signatures, and/or other information that describes a typical operational state of the system. The monitor device includes software that executes locally to compare current sensor data to the parameter data and determine whether the current operational state of the system is within the bounds of the typical state as defined by the parameter data. In instances where the current state is atypical, indicating a possible problem with the system, a notification can be sent describing the anomaly. The monitor device can also perform other action(s) to correct the problem or mitigate possible damage, and can operate autonomously if a network connection is unavailable.

  • Patent number: 10586122
Abstract: A method includes receiving a first set of images from an image capture device of a vehicle. The method also includes performing a first analysis of movement of biomechanical points of occupants of the vehicle in the first set of images. The method further includes receiving an indication that a traffic incident has occurred. The method also includes receiving a second set of images from the image capture device corresponding to when the traffic incident occurred. The method further includes performing a second analysis of movement of the biomechanical points of the occupants in the second set of images. The method also includes determining a likelihood of injury or a severity of injury to the occupants based on the first analysis of movement and the second analysis of movement.

  • Patent number: 10574654
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for receiving, by a network device, a request from a computing device to join a network, where the network is segmented to include a provisioning network, a first network segment, and a second network segment, and the second network segment provides limited network access privileges to computing devices compared to network access privileges provided by the first network segment. Providing the computing device access to the provisioning network. Determining, while the computing device is connected to the provisioning network, properties of the computing device. Selecting which of the first network segment and the second network segment to assign access to the computing device based on the properties of the computing device. Providing security credentials to the computing device for accessing the selected one of the first network segment or the second network segment.

  • Patent number: 10526771
Abstract: A flow monitoring system, which is configured to detect a leak in a water distribution system having appliances, includes a flow sensor. The flow sensor is configured to detect flow data of a flow of water within a conduit configured to fluidly couple to the appliances. The flow monitoring system also includes a processor. The processor is configured to receive the flow data from the flow sensor, determine whether a reference flow pattern (of a plurality of reference flow patterns) is present in the flow data (where the plurality of reference flow patterns correspond with expected water flow patterns to one or more appliance of the appliances), and initiate a shut-down mode configured to stop the flow of water in response to a determination that the reference flow pattern is not present in the flow data.
