Patent number: 11504828Abstract: An adapter is provided which allows an external driving tool to drive a driven tool such as an intraosseous needle assembly, where the external driving tool would otherwise be incompatible with the needle assembly. The adapter includes a driver connector having a bore, where the bore is to receive an external driver of the external driving tool. The adapter further includes a driver attached to the driver connector. A cross-sectional shape of the bore is different than a cross-sectional shape of the attached driver. The attached driver includes resilient legs which assist in securing the adapter to the needle assembly. The resilient legs may include protuberances to secure the adapter.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2022Date of Patent: November 22, 2022Assignee: THE SEABERG COMPANY, INC.Inventors: Eric E. Batdorf, Kyle Sims, Samuel Scheinberg

Patent number: 10363046Abstract: A tourniquet for application to a patient's limb in an emergency situation, and a method for its application. The tourniquet includes a tension-sensing mechanism used to establish a baseline tension in a loop around an injured limb, and a tension-increasing mechanism to reduce the circumference of the loop and tighten the tourniquet as required beyond the baseline tension. The tension-sensing mechanism may be incorporated in a buckle in which when sufficient tension is developed in the loop a pin protrudes to engage and maintain tension in a strap member which is part of the loop. A latch may be incorporated in the buckle to keep it in a condition in which the pin protrudes to engage the strap and maintain the baseline tension. A release tab operable to release the latch is located where it is protected against inadvertent operation.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 2016Date of Patent: July 30, 2019Assignee: The Seaberg Company, Inc.Inventors: Lance D Hopman, Eric E Batdorf

Patent number: 10182934Abstract: A belt-like hip-girdling pelvic sling device for maintaining a desired amount of tension surrounding a person's hips and pelvis to securely support and stabilize a fractured pelvis, including a force-controlled buckle that automatically latches to control the tension and that includes a releasable latching mechanism. The latching mechanism maintains engagement of the buckle with a strap at the required position of the strap with respect to the buckle. The latching mechanism includes a movable member of the buckle that is moved to and latched in a position in which the buckle engages the strap, once a desired amount of tension is reached, limiting and maintaining the required tension.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2013Date of Patent: January 22, 2019Assignee: The Seaberg Company, Inc.Inventors: Lance David Hopman, Lane Michael Johnson, Eric E. Batdorf, Brian Lux, Nolan Brophy, Aaron Lundquist, Matthew Malone, Kenneth J. Courian

Patent number: 9427238Abstract: A junctional and truncal tourniquet and hip-girdling pelvic sling device for maintaining a desired amount of tension surrounding a person's hips and pelvis to securely support and stabilize a pelvis that has been fractured and to secure a pressure applying device with a preferred amount of tension so that blood vessel-occluding pressure can be applied to stem hemorrhaging. The device may be wrapped around a patient's torso and may include inflatable pressure application bladders useful to occlude blood vessels proximal to an injury on a limb. A stabilizing support device may carry an inflatable pressure application bladder and a separate and removable pressure-concentrating member. An auxiliary strap may be connected to the stabilizing support device and used to keep the junctional and truncal tourniquet and the inflatable pressure application bladder in place on a patient's torso.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 2015Date of Patent: August 30, 2016Assignee: The Seaberg Company, Inc.Inventors: Lance D. Hopman, Eric E. Batdorf

Patent number: 9320839Abstract: A small manually operable pump which may be of the squeeze-bulb type, arranged to reduce fluid pressure and receive a fluid at a first end and to discharge a flow from an opposite end, and provided with a connector at each end so that it can be connected to various articles of emergency medical equipment to provide increased pressure or suction as required. A collection bag is arranged to use both the suction and the pressurized flow of the pump to suck materials from a wound or a patient's airway into the collection bag.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 2013Date of Patent: April 26, 2016Assignee: The Seaberg Company, Inc.Inventors: Lance D.
