  • Patent number: 7554552
Abstract: The field of the invention is that of graphical libraries providing graphical functions used for the drawing of symbologic images. One of the fields of favored application is the generation of symbologic images for the piloting of aircraft. The object of the invention is to propose a method of graphical generation of a colored vector surrounded by a dark contour (H) on a background likewise colored as a single drawing, making it possible to preserve the function of antialiasing. The method uses two different mixing laws dependent on the position of the pixel of the vector with respect to the central axis of the vector. This method presents the following advantages: The calculations are optimized and successive writes to the buffer-memory are avoided; The dark contour is drawn at the same time as the vector of which it forms an integral part and thus becomes a functional state of the vector; The method takes into account the relative priority of the vectors with a single ordering logic.

  • Publication number: 20080252636
Abstract: The field of the invention is that of synthesis methods for a map image which is composed of pixels and represents the distribution of the intervisibility regions on a terrain overflown by an aircraft. The image synthesis method according to the invention provides both a two-dimensional cartographic representation in plan view of a terrain (T) overflown by an aircraft. The terrain has at least one potential threat (M), the intervisibility region, set of locations from where the aircraft is likely to be visible to said threat, being represented by at least one plain color. A second representation represents a view in vertical cross section of the terrain overflown. The second representation has a cross-sectional view of the intervisibility region. Various configurations of the first and of the second representations are proposed.

  • Publication number: 20080211814
Abstract: The field of the invention relates to the operational safety, security and reliability of Man/Machine Interface systems displaying information in the form of graphics or symbology. The monitoring principles according to the prior art are all based on monitoring graphical information coming from the display system and the verification that this information really corresponds to the input parameters. The heart of the invention is to monitor the correct operation of the graphics generation functions, independently of the data that they process. More precisely, the invention relates to a device for the graphical generation of symbologies intended for a display screen, the device having functions for the generation of symbology elements and means for monitoring its correct operation.

  • Publication number: 20080191903
Abstract: The field of the invention is that of optoelectronic taxiing-aid devices for aircraft, comprising a so-called head-up display enabling information to be presented in the visual field of the pilot. It applies more particularly to large civilian aircraft of the Boeing 747 or Airbus A380 type. The purpose of the invention is to present, in the display, a set of ergonomic symbols for informing the pilot of the path to be followed in a turn and the exact situation of his vehicle on the taxiway, enabling him to taxi in total safety, including in bad weather conditions. These symbols comprise lateral safety marks, represented by posts of variable height, representing the limit of the taxiway, positioned at regular intervals and located either side of the center line of the taxiway and equidistant from the latter. When the taxiing conditions are such that these posts are no longer visible in the display, a view from above of the situation of the aircraft on the taxiway is displayed.

  • Patent number: 7353091
Abstract: The field of the invention is that of methods of synthesizing cartographic images presented on display devices. This method is applied more specifically to visual flight on rotary-wing aircraft. The method according to the invention is used to present the useful aeronautical map information superimposed on a conventional altimetric presentation of the terrain being flown over, while retaining a legibility that is acceptable to the user. Flight safety is thus significantly reinforced. To obtain an enhanced legibility, the method displays only the aeronautical zones included in an altitude band corresponding to the flight phase of the aircraft and dependent on the geographic location and the vertical position of the aircraft. The method is used to display the cartographic representation either on a single window comprising a plan view of the terrain being flown over, or on two windows respectively representing a plan view and a cross-sectional view of the terrain being flown over.

  • Publication number: 20070225952
Abstract: The field of the invention is that of graphics libraries supplying graphics functions used in the tracing of symbolic images. For certain applications, the screen comprises restricted areas, referred to as ‘clipboxes’, inside which no graphics objects must be traced. The method according to the invention allows elementary straight lines to be generated on a matrix display comprising restricted areas without filling the frame-buffer with segments of the straight line belonging to said restricted areas. The method comprises a first step for calculating the segments of the line situated strictly within the allowed area and a second step for tracing said segments in the allowed area.
