  • Patent number: 6795979
Abstract: A helmet is particularly well suited for cold-weather use. The helmet includes a jaw shield that is detachable from a head portion. A breathing mask connects to the jaw shield via a mask adjustment mechanism that selectively axially moves the breathing mask toward and away from an inner surface of the jaw shield to precisely and accurately position the breathing mask against the nose and mouth of the helmet's wearer. A spring-loaded quick-release tinted shield is controlled by a lever that selectively raises and lowers the tinted shield. An eye shield pivotally connects to the helmet and is disposed in front of the tinted shield. An eye shield heating system on the eye shield electrically connects to the head portion of the helmet to provide electric power to the heating system.

  • Publication number: 20040021348
Abstract: A recreational vehicle such as a snowmobile, personal watercraft, all-terrain vehicle, motorcycle, or boat has a straddle-type seat that includes a flexible sheet of material pulled tightly over a gap formed in a seat frame. In certain embodiments, a tightening mechanism ensures that the flexible sheet of material is pulled tightly over the gap. The flexible sheet of material forms a hammock-like straddle-type seat. The flexible sheet of material is a mesh material that allows water, snow, dust, and other debris to fall through the mesh to avoid debris buildup on the seat. Because water falls through the mesh material and both the top and bottom sides of the mesh material are exposed to the ambient air, the seat dries quickly.

  • Publication number: 20030150659
Abstract: A detachable passenger seat is selectively mountable onto a base frame of a snowmobile having a straddle-type rider seat. The passenger seat includes a cushioned seat portion supported by a seat frame. A forward portion of the passenger seat includes a bottom surface contoured to fit over and be supported by at least a portion of a rearward end of the rider seat when the passenger seat is attached to the snowmobile. Upwardly extending flexible grab handles are mounted to the lateral sides of the seat frame. Upper portions of the flexible grab handles extend higher than at least a portion of an upper surface of a cushioned seat portion of the passenger seat. The flexible grab handles are designed to be rigid enough to provide support to a passenger and flexible enough to allow a passenger to easily dismount the snowmobile.

  • Patent number: 6442960
Abstract: A gravity-feed unit that dispenses cool drinks form a carboy includes a breakable inner seal. The carboy is supported by its neck, which is centered on a striker. The striker includes a discharge passage for the carboy that communicates with a coiled pipe to cause the beverage to flow through a secondary exchanger. A heat transferring agent is previously cooled in a primary exchanger and brought to the secondary exchanger by a pump. Actuation is controlled by a temperature sensor that measures the temperature of the heat transfer agent in the secondary exchanger. The primary exchanger includes a heat source that causes the heat transfer agent to pass continuously inside a closed circuit mutually connecting the primary and secondary exchangers regardless of whether the pump is operating.

  • Patent number: 5950244
Abstract: A protective device comprising a shell and a liner. The shell includes an interior surface. The liner is associated with the interior surface of the shell. The liner includes a member for enabling control displacement of the preselected regions of the liner upon various degrees of impact of the protective device. The control displacement member comprises a first member and a second member. Each of the first and second members having a top surface, a bottom surface and a different impact absorbing characteristic. The top surface of at least one of the first and second members is associated with the interior surface of the shell. At least a portion of the bottom surface of the first member extends further from the interior surface of the shell and the bottom surface of the second member.
