  • Patent number: 10710803
Abstract: A method transfers unit loads to storage channels for storage by conveying the unit loads to the storage channels using a unit load receiving device movable along the storage channels in an x-direction and a transporter extendable into the storage channel in a z-direction. The transporter includes outer transport elements in opposite end sections and optionally an in-between inner transport element. The unit load is moved from the unit load receiving device into the storage channel up to an intermediate position using one transport element by moving the transporter in a first direction. The transporter is then moved to a second direction to position the other transport element behind a unit load side wall facing the unit load receiving device. The unit load is finally shifted in the storage channel from the intermediate to the second depth position using the other transport element by moving the transporter.

  • Publication number: 20070198826
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for end-to-end security in heterogeneous networks. Hop-by-hop protection techniques ensure that each hop of a signaling path is satisfying one or more predefined security criteria. An end-to-end path is secured at each node by identifying a next hop in the end-to-end path; determining, in response to a received call setup request, if a vendor associated with the next hop in the end-to-end path has satisfied one or more predefined security criteria; and routing the call to the next hop if the vendor has satisfied the one or more predefined criteria. A look-up table can be used to determine whether a vendor has satisfied the one or more predefined security criteria. The look-up table can identify one or more of: (i) vendors that have achieved a predefined security rating; (ii) members in a predefined consortium or business group; and (iii) signatories to a predefined contract or technical specification.

  • Publication number: 20070033650
Abstract: A method and apparatus for defending against a Denial of Service attack wherein a target victim of an attack recognizes the existence of an attack, identifies the source of the attack, and automatically instructs its carrier network to limit (e.g., block) transmission of packets from the identified source to the victim. The victim may identify the existence of an attack based on various criteria determined within the victim's site's infrastructure, and may employ event correlation techniques to make the determination. The victim then communicates one or more source/destination IP (Internet Protocol) address pairs to the carrier, which will then limit the transmission of packets from a specified destination IP address to a corresponding source IP address. The victim may advantageously communicate the source/destination IP address pairs with use of security signatures and by using redundant connections to the carrier network to ensure delivery even under congested network conditions.

  • Publication number: 20070030850
Abstract: A method and apparatus for defending against a Denial of Service attack wherein a target victim of an attack has recognized the existence of an attack and identified its source. The carrier network which provides service to the victim automatically receives one or more IP (Internet Protocol) source/destination IP address pairs from the victim, and then limits (e.g., blocks) the transmission of packets from the identified source address to the identified destination address. The carrier may implement this filtering capability as a stand-alone box included in the network, or as a line card incorporated into otherwise conventional network elements already present in the network. The source/destination address pairs to be blocked may be advantageously communicated from the victim with use of security signatures and with use of redundant connections from the victim to the carrier network to ensure receipt even under congested network conditions.

  • Publication number: 20060143712
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the early detection of machines infected by e-mail based computer viruses advantageously employs a network behavioral analysis rather than a direct technical analysis of attached executable code. Specifically, an SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) log associated with a mail gateway system interconnected to a plurality of machines is examined, and based on an analysis of information comprised in a plurality of log entries thereof, it may be determined that one of these machines has a possible infection by an e-mail based computer virus. Illustratively, information extracted from each entry in the SMTP log (i.e., for each incoming e-mail message) of the mail gateway includes (i) the unique identity of the sending machine; (ii) the “hello” name that the sending machine calls itself, (iii) the e-mail “From:” address; and (iv) whether the message contains a potentially virus-like (e.g., executable) attachment.

  • Patent number: 7047408
Abstract: Secure communication protocols are disclosed in which two parties generate a shared secret which may be used as a secure session key for communication between the parties. The protocols are based on Diffie-Hellman type key exchange in which a Diffie-Hellman value is combined with a function of at least a password using the group operation such that the Diffie-Hellman value may be extracted by the other party using the inverse group operation and knowledge of the password. In one embodiment, each of the parties explicitly authenticates the other party, while in another embodiment, the parties utilize implicit authentication relying on the generation of an appropriate secret session key to provide the implicit authentication. Typically, the parties will be a client computer and a server computer.
