  • Publication number: 20060090574
Abstract: An industrial roll includes: a substantially cylindrical shell having an outer surface; a polymeric cover circumferentially overlying the shell outer surface; and a sensing system. The sensing system includes: a plurality of sensors embedded in the cover, each sensor configured to sense a data parameter; and a plurality of wireless transceivers, each transceiver connected to a respective sensor and embedded in the cover adjacent thereto. Each wireless transceiver is configured to transmit data signals from the respective sensor. Related methods and systems are also discussed.

  • Publication number: 20060004595
Abstract: A data integration method involves a unique method of collecting raw business data and processing it to produce highly useful and highly accurate information to enable business decisions. This process includes collecting global data, entity matching, applying an identification number, performing corporate linkage, and providing predictive indicators. These process steps work in series to filter and organize the raw business data and provide quality information to customers. In addition, the information is enhanced by quality assurance at each step in this process to ensure the high quality of the resulting data.

  • Publication number: 20050261115
Abstract: An industrial roll includes: a substantially cylindrical core having an outer surface; a polymeric cover circumferentially overlying the core outer surface, the cover including a base layer circumferentially overlying the core and a topstock layer overlying the base layer; and a sensing system. The sensing system includes: a plurality of piezoelectric sensors embedded in the cover base layer, the sensors configured to sense pressure experienced by the roll and provide signals related to the pressure; and a processor operatively associated with the sensors that processes signals provided by the sensors.

  • Publication number: 20040220918
Abstract: A system and method for finding a business entity in a database that matches input data. A web services interface accepts a match request and provides a best match. A pre-processing layer cleans, parses, and standardizes input data into terms. An application layer includes a match engine for processing the match request using the terms. The match engine evaluates and scores match candidates from the database to provide the best match and, optionally, an ordered list of match candidates.

  • Publication number: 20040219346
Abstract: A method of producing an endless belt includes the steps of: securing axial fibers relative to a mandrel, the axial fibers being spaced apart from one another at desired intervals and extending substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the mandrel; applying a polymeric base layer to the mandrel in a thickness sufficient to embed the axial fibers; wrapping circumferential fibers onto the polymeric base layer with sufficient tension to partially embed the circumferential fibers in the polymeric base layer; applying a polymeric top stock layer over the polymeric base layer and circumferential fibers; and curing the base layer and the top stock layer. This method can improve productivity and performance of endless belts, particularly if the wrapping and latter applying steps closely follow the first applying step.

  • Patent number: 5902386
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner assembly having a separator of reduced dimensions. The separator is operated at preferably between about 20,000 rpm-30,000 rpm and includes a reduced number of slots formed therein. A labyrinth sealing plate and fan adapter are secured to an upper end of the separator to prevent water and dust and dirt particles from bypassing the separator during operation. The separator is preferably spaced from about 1.0 inch to about 6 inches above the upper surface of the liquid in a liquid reservoir of the vacuum cleaner assembly with which the separator is used. The separator, because of its reduced dimensions and weight, is able to be driven with a small conventional, and less costly and less powerful motor at a higher speed than previously designed separators without suffering breakage. The higher speed of 20,000-30,000 rpm helps to prevent the airflow through the separator from being impeded because of the reduced number of slots.

  • Patent number: 5679579
Abstract: A system is disclosed for measuring immunofluorescence of a thin sample layer mounted on a substrate. A sample is located in a radiation beam having a spacially-varying amplitude, for example a series of nodes and antinodes. The sample layer is small to comparison to the period over which the radiation intensity varies, but the support is large in comparison to the period. Thus, when the sample and support are moved relative to the radiation beam, the fluorescence signal from the sample layer will be significantly affected, while the signal from the support is substantially unaffected. The difference between two measurements at different relative orientations of the source and radiation beam can provide a measure of the fluorescence of the sample layer independent of any background scatter of fluorescence of the support.
