  • Patent number: 8007533
Abstract: The present technology is related to the field of bone-tendon-bone implants, grafts, and components thereof, for implantation in mammals, particularly for implantation in humans. More particularly, the present technology relates to assembled implants that comprise a length of tendon and at least two bone components or intermediate bone blocks that are assembled to form a bone-tendon-bone implant, and methods of making such implants. In some embodiments, implants of the present technology provide a first grip on the tendon prior to implantation and a second grip during or after implantation. In some embodiments, bone block assemblies or intermediate bone blocks of the present technology have a first geometric configuration prior to implantation and a second geometric configuration during or after implantation.

  • Patent number: 5218996
Abstract: The device comprises a housing having therein a valve chamber, fluid inlet and exhaust ports opening on opposite ends, respectively, of the chamber, and an outlet port for connection to fluid pressure operated apparatus. Two solenoid coils are wound in the housing to surround said chamber and two armatures which are mounted in the chamber to reciprocate independently of each between said inlet and exhaust ports. Two springs normally urge said armatures to first limit positions in which a valve on one armature closes the exhaust port, and a valve on the other armature opens the inlet port to place it in communication with the outlet port. When both solenoid coils are energized the armatures shift in the same direction to close the inlet port and open the exhaust port to exhaust fluid from the outlet port to a sump. One coil alone may be energized to shift one armature to close the inlet port without causing the other armature to shift, thus maintaining the exhaust port closed.

  • Patent number: 5102095
Abstract: The flow restrictor is a unitary one-piece element that can be fabricated from either metal or plastic by casting or molding. In use, it is press fitted into a bore in a solenoid valve body to provide a certain restrictive effect. It has a circular cylindrical central core that has a series of flanges that are axially spaced by gaps. Each flange has a circular outer edge that is interrupted by at least one axially extending through-notch. These notches are arranged to provide a tortuous path for the fluid flow, and sized to create a desired restriction. The restrictor provides two parallel flow paths, one, the tortuous path just described, and two, a through-hole through the core of the restrictor.

  • Patent number: 5083747
Abstract: The armature has a circular cylindrical main body that is surrounded at one axial end by a circular flange. The flange can conduct what would otherwise be stray magnetic flux and because the flange is on a substantial radius, it can provide a significant area for the magnetic flux even though the flange's radial dimension is small. A number of channels are formed in the armature to provide for passage of fluid past the armature.

  • Patent number: 5065128
Abstract: A solenoid coil is fabricated by precisioin winding a length of bondable magnet wire on a mandrel, heating and axially compressing the precision-wound convolutions to cause the bondable insulation to deform into a unitary, void-free mass, but without deforming the pre-existing circular cross section of the conductive metal core of the wire, and allowing the wire to cool such that the mass immovably captures the convolutions of the conductive core to thereby form a free-standing coil. The coil is then disposed in a mold cavity where the entirety of the coil is encapsulated. This produces a solenoid coil that is well-suited for use in high-pressure "wet" environments because the encapsulated assembly is strong and leak-proof. The encapsulant may be molded in such a manner as to have no seams extending from its surface to the winding.
