  • Publication number: 20050224477
Abstract: A welding apparatus using ultrasonic sensing is described and which includes a movable welder having a selectively adjustable welding head for forming a partially completed weld in a weld seam defined between adjoining metal substrates; an ultrasonic assembly borne by the moveable welder and which is operable to generate an ultrasonic signal which is directed toward the partially completed weld, and is further reflected from same; and a controller electrically coupled with the ultrasonic assembly and controllably coupled with the welding head, and wherein the controller receives information regarding the ultrasonic signal and in response to the information optimally positions the welding head relative to the weld seam.

  • Publication number: 20050075703
Abstract: A treatment device which uses a light radiation of multiple wavelengths and pulse-shaped electromagnetic fields for the photodynamic stimulation of cells, especially cells of human tissue, and also for the activation and stimulation of light sensitive substances (PTD). The device produces energy radiation by the use of semiconductor and/or laser diodes, which emit light in several separate wavelengths due to a special operation mode and the use of tuneable diodes. The equipment consists of a stand, with which machine applicators are connected via a jointed arm. The stand is freely moveable on wheels and includes a control mechanism whereby the various parameters for therapy can be adjusted and switched on and off. The stand is also connected to a hand applicator for treatment of small tissue-areas, e.g., acupuncture points. Photodynamic substances are introduced into the tissue with a special hand applicator.

  • Publication number: 20050059488
Abstract: A method for processing interactive user control with a scene of a video clip is provided. The method initiates with identifying a head of a user that is to interact with the scene of the video clip. Then, the identified head of the user is tracked during display of the video clip, where the tracking enables detection of a change in position of the head of the user. Next, a view-frustum is adjusted in accordance with the change in position of the head of the user. A computer readable media, a computing device and a system for enabling interactive user control for defining a visible volume being displayed are also included.

  • Patent number: 6450941
Abstract: The invented device for hair-care consists of an applicator (1), which is equipped with at least one print-board (6,7), upon which semiconductor-diodes (LED) or laser-diodes (8) are placed. The semiconductor-diodes (LED) and the laser-diodes radiate light with a wavelength between 350 and 1200 nm. Further, the applicator (1) contains one or more plain transmitter-coils (transducers) (3) for the emission of pulse-shaped electromagnetic radiation. It can be equipped with an IR-heating element and a ventilator to produce a warm air stream. The applicator (1) can be formed as a hood (2) or designed as a plainer surface applicator consisting of one or more parts, in the latter case the parts being connected with moveable joints. The applicator can also be designed as a hand applicator. In this case it resembles an ordinary hand-held hair drier, consisting of an almost cylindrical tube with a rectangular handle.

  • Patent number: 6123610
Abstract: A lens (L) or the like is placed in a lens holder (16) with a concave end (CC) in contact with a resilient, semi-spherical polishing head member (98) that may or may not be covered by a polishing cloth (PC). The lens holder (16) and lens (L) are rotated in one direction. The resilient, semi-spherical polish carrying member (98) is rotated in the opposite direction. The lens holder (16) and lens (L) are swung sideways to move the surface to be polished along an arcuate path. The concave surface to be polished is in contact with the resilient, semi-spherical member (98). A surface to be polished presses against the resilient, semi-spherical surface (98), causing it to compress. This stores energy in the member (98) that urges the member (98), and any polishing compound on it, into tight contact with the surface to be polished.

  • Patent number: 5807745
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of inhibiting (reducing or preventing) the interaction of a cell which bears a surface molecule that interacts with a ligand comprising a Le.sup.x core with its target ligand by contacting the cell with an inhibitor comprising a Lewis x (Le.sup.x) core. The invention further relates to a method of inhibiting (reducing or preventing) the interaction or adhesion of endothelial cells and/or platelets with leukocytes (i.e., white blood cells), especially with nonlymphocytic leukocytes such as neutrophils and monocytes, by contacting the endothelial cells and/or platelets with an inhibitor comprising a Le.sup.x core under conditions whereby adhesion is inhibited.
