Publication number: 20140224288Abstract: A bed tent includes an enclosure defined by a top spanning two side walls. The side walls are characterized by a deformable, collapsible material, each bearing a wire ring defining its periphery. The wire rings have spring-like characteristics, and may be hyper-extended, or folded in order to create tightly coiled rings of smaller circumference. In this manner, the tightly coiled rings may be unfolded to form the side walls, which are kept separated by cross members at the top of the enclosure. The enclosure is sized to fit a standard bed frame, and a mattress and bed linens may be installed in the enclosure when assembled.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 8, 2013Publication date: August 14, 2014Inventors: Eric Mear, Danny Ninete, Eric Mear

Patent number: 7717846Abstract: The present invention provides an endoscopic accessory control system that resides externally of the endoscope. The system comprises the endoscopic accessory with a working end to be placed at the distal end of the endoscope, a control sheath extending proximally external to the endoscope and a control handle joined to the proximal end of the control sheath. The control handle is slidably mounted to the exterior surface of the endoscope shaft and is configured to permit grasping of both the shaft and the handle. With the control handle and endoscope shaft grasped with one hand, the other hand of the user is left free to manipulate the endoscope distal tip controls. Additionally, the external arrangement of the control sheath leaves the working channel of the endoscope free for use of accessories or operations.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2007Date of Patent: May 18, 2010Assignee: C.R. Bard, Inc.Inventors: Christopher T. Zirps, Timothy R. Membrino, David J. Copeland, Sean J. Silva, Eric Mears, Joseph Logan, Stephen J. Yardan

Publication number: 20070265493Abstract: The present invention provides a ligating band dispenser that is mounted on the distal end of an endoscope. The ligator is configured to deliver multiple ligating bands to a plurality of internal sites in a patient. The ligating bands are carried on a tubular band carrier member that is retractable relative to the distal end of the endoscope in order to preserve visibility through the endoscope during navigation, then extendable to define a suction chamber for tissue aspiration during band delivery. A tubular band driver member is slidable over the band carrier member and engages bands individually to push them off the distal end of the band carrier and onto a selected treatment site. A single-hand operated control handle for selectively operating the extension of the band carrier and movement of the band driver to release a band is also provided and is slidably and removably mounted to the endoscope shaft.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 12, 2007Publication date: November 15, 2007Applicant: CONMED ENDOSCOPIC TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Christopher Zirps, Timothy Membrino, Scott Reed, Ernest Corrao, Stephen Maguire, Eric Mears, David Copeland, John Murphy, Joseph Logan, Sean Silva, Stephen Yardan

Patent number: 7204804Abstract: The present invention relates to a mounting adapter for releasably securing accessories, tools, or their medical instruments to the distal end of an endoscope. The adapter is compatible with endoscopic accessories that have a cylindrical mounting surface, which becomes positioned over a length of the distal end of an endoscope. The adaptor is preferably provided in two components to support both ends of a cylindrical accessory on the endoscope surface. The adapter is configured to hold the accessory on the endoscope shaft by frictional engagement and is configured to maintain the accessory concentric with the shaft along its length. The adapter also is configured to mount an accessory to a wide range of commercially available endoscope diameters.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 2003Date of Patent: April 17, 2007Assignee: C.R. Bard, Inc.Inventors: Christopher T. Zirps, Timothy R. Membrino, Scott Reed, Eric Mears

Patent number: 4531821Abstract: A transport mechanism has two driven gears driven by a driving gear therebetween and having pivotally attached cranks at pivot points maintained at the same elevation as the driven gears rotate. The upper end of the cranks are attached to a horizontal moving guide bar. The moving mechanism is supported beside a fixed guide plate formed with a loading slot at the input end, a sloping edge at the output end and a number of equally spaced vertical slots therebetween. A film carrier has end rods which may rest on the moving guide bars and be lowered in the slots. Film chips in the film carrier advance from the loading slot into a developing tank. The mechanism then lifts the carrier with the film chips above the carrier tank and into a wash tank, then from the wash tank into a fixing tank, then from the fixing tank into a wash tank, then into a drying chamber and then upon an output ramp.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1983Date of Patent: July 30, 1985Assignee: Cordell Engineering, Inc.Inventor: Eric Mears
