  • Patent number: 4739920
Abstract: A long chain organic acid, such as stearic acid, is used as a flux to bond aluminum to electro-deposited sheet of aluminum, magnesium, or alloys thereof.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 3, 1987
Date of Patent: April 26, 1988
    Assignee: RCA Corporation
    Inventor: Erich F. Kujas
  • Patent number: 4732804
Abstract: A novel material is disclosed which is the reaction product of acrylic acid and a novoloid fiber. The material has excellent ablative and flame resistant properties.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 12, 1985
Date of Patent: March 22, 1988
    Assignee: RCA Corporation
    Inventor: Erich F. Kujas
  • Patent number: 4721660
Abstract: An electrically regeneratable fuel cell is disclosed which has positive electrodes comprised of an alloy of about 50 to 55 percent by weight of silver and about 50 to 45 percent by weight of indium. The fuel cell of this invention is chargeable to a higher voltage at a lower pressure, has a substantially higher capacity, lower internal resistance and is lighter in weight than comparable conventional electrically regeneratable fuel cells.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 18, 1986
Date of Patent: January 26, 1988
    Assignee: RCA Corporation
    Inventor: Erich F. Kujas
  • Patent number: 4686322
Abstract: A novel solar panel is disclosed which has a supporting substrate which is comprised of one or more plies of resin reinforced novoloid fabric.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 12, 1985
Date of Patent: August 11, 1987
    Assignee: RCA Corporation
    Inventor: Erich F. Kujas
  • Patent number: 4685608
Abstract: A solar array panel is formed of a matrix of solar cell subarrays and wired together to form an integral power unit. The subarrays are soldered by passing them on a conveyor through successive solder melting and solder cooling regions induced by suspended radiating susceptors which are inductively heated. The system induction generator is cycled on and off to create the desired temperature ranges in the applicable regions. The subarrays are carried through the regions by an aluminum alloy plate on a thermally inert conveyor belt. The aluminum alloy plate is substantially unresponsive to radiated heat from the susceptors.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 29, 1985
Date of Patent: August 11, 1987
    Assignee: RCA Corporation
    Inventor: Erich F. Kujas
  • Patent number: 4657827
Abstract: A hydrogen-oxygen fuel cell is provided which includes as the fuel a mixture comprised of about 40 to 60% by volume of formaldehyde and about 60 to 40% by volume of propionaldehyde. The operation of hydrogen-oxygen fuel cells is improved with regard to the amount of electrical power produced, the length of time of operation between discharges of the hydrogen-oxygen fuel cell and the number of times the hydrogen-oxygen fuel cell can be rejuvenated before replacement of electrolyte.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 28, 1986
Date of Patent: April 14, 1987
    Assignee: RCA Corporation
    Inventor: Erich F. Kujas
  • Patent number: 4588657
Abstract: A solder is disclosed which consists essentially of from about 55 to about 65 percent by weight of tin, from about 2 to about 3.9 percent by weight of calcium with the remainder being lead. The calcium modified tin-lead solders of this invention are characterized by excellent soldering properties, especially uniform solidification on cooling, and by forming solder joints with a tensile strength of at least about 7000 PSI (49.21.times.10.sup.5 kg/sq m).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 1, 1984
Date of Patent: May 13, 1986
    Assignee: RCA Corporation
    Inventor: Erich F. Kujas
  • Patent number: 4460660
Abstract: An improved electrode useful in nickel-hydrogen fuel cells is disclosed. The electrode is comprised of an alloy of equal quantities of palladium and ruthenium on a suitable support material.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 22, 1982
Date of Patent: July 17, 1984
    Assignee: RCA Corporation
    Inventor: Erich F. Kujas
  • Patent number: 4430398
Abstract: A process for preparing separators for use in alkaline power cells for space vehicles is decribed. The separator is prepared by subjecting a sheet of fibrous polypropylene to corona discharge followed by impregnation with a compound selected from the group consisting of phenylglycine, parahydroxyphenylglycine and mixtures thereof.
