  • Publication number: 20060056746
Abstract: Universal aerial and die-mount cams, each having an adapter assembly, a driver, and a slide sandwiched between the adapter assembly and the driver. The adapter assembly has a universal adapter having an arcuate portion that is angularly adjustable within arcuate recesses in opposing side plates of the universal adapter so that bearing surfaces of the universal adapter slidably oppose a first group of bearing surfaces of the slide and a second group of bearing surfaces of the slide slidably oppose bearing surfaces of the driver, the latter bearing surfaces being parallel to or inclined to the horizontal. Three ranges of longitudinal driver inclination angles can be accommodated by using the same slide and universal adapter and one of two pairs of side plates.

  • Publication number: 20060021417
Abstract: Narrow aerial and die-mount cams, each having a cam adapter, a driver and a slide sandwiched between the cam adapter and driver. The narrow aerial cam slide has an elongate primary portion that has a T-shaped cross-section and has a primary bearing surface, and the cam adapter has a rectangular recess. An elongate keeper plate having a longitudinal slot is secured to each side of the cam adapter adjacent the rectangular recess to slidably retain the primary portion of the slide within the longitudinal slots and the rectangular recess. The primary bearing surface and a pair of intermediate bearing surfaces formed in the slide below the primary portion slidably support the keeper plates and thus the cam adapter. The driver slidably supports the slide. The narrow die-mount cam is basically an inverted version of the aerial cam.

  • Publication number: 20050262920
Abstract: A roller cam with pairs of sliding surfaces and wear plates located in an upper plane and with pairs of laterally slanted sliding surfaces and pairs of laterally slanted guiding wear plates located in a lower plane. The guiding wear plates are longitudinally contained between end plates to avoid using screws, which might loosen under stress, to secure the wear plates. Adjusting setscrews are used to laterally adjust the guiding wear plates, and positive return members are used to provide a tool retracting force in addition to that provided by a retracting spring.

  • Publication number: 20050126254
Abstract: Adjustment of the tools (24) on the tool holder (10) in an Aerial Cam of a metal stamping press may be readily effected by opening the press to remove the upper die (14) from the stamping aera and then removing the tool holder (10) on the driver (18) for controlled reciprocation simulating normal operation of the press. The tools (24) may then be adjusted in relation to the workpiece without the interference of the press dies (14 and 20).
