Patent number: 10009682Abstract: A new audio transducer for mobile devices having a collar with side openings that provide side venting to a back volume within an enclosure. The side openings eliminate the need for a typical frame and back vents thereon, which leads to a smaller size speaker. Each of the side openings have a maximum size less than the size of an adsorber material, which prevents the adsorber material coming into contact with the magnets, coil, and membrane of the speaker. The side openings and the size thereof also permit the enclosure to be directly filled with an adsorber material. The direct filling of the adsorber leads to more even and complete distribution of the adsorber within the back volume, which, in turn, improves sound quality of the speaker.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 2016Date of Patent: June 26, 2018Assignee: Sound Solutions International Co., Ltd.Inventors: Michael Schoeffmann, Erich Klein, Heribert Bauer

Publication number: 20170099536Abstract: A new audio transducer for mobile devices, in particular for a micro speaker, having a coil assembly having a coil, a pair of leads extending from the coil, and a flexible printed circuit having a pair of contact pads to which the leads are directly electrically connected. An advantage of this new speaker is the reduced number of electrical connections between the leads of the coil and the driver of the coil. This helps to reduce the number and size of the parts of the micro speaker and aids in increasing sound quality and durability of the speaker.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 6, 2016Publication date: April 6, 2017Inventors: Michael Schoeffmann, Erich Klein

Patent number: 7644801Abstract: A membrane (2) for an electroacoustic transducer (1) is disclosed, wherein a thickness (d) of said membrane (2) and an average Young's modulus (Eavg) of said membrane (2) are chosen in such a way that the critical load (Fbc), which causes the membrane (2) to buckle and/or crinkle, is increased compared to a reference membrane. The reference membrane made of Polycarbonate has the same shape, dimension, and stiffness in its direction of movement (MOV) as said membrane (2). According to the result of investigations on buckling and/or crinkling, said effect occurs with different critical buckling/crinkling loads for membranes of the same shape and dimension, but made of different materials, even when the stiffness of the membranes in their direction of movement—and hence their resonant frequency—is identical.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 2006Date of Patent: January 12, 2010Assignee: NXP B.V.Inventors: Erich Klein, Ewald Frasl, Susanne Windischberger
