  • Publication number: 20050150771
Abstract: Structural components made of aluminum and aluminum alloys are anodized in two sequential steps in two different electrolytes. The first electrolyte is a mixed acid of two inorganic acids such as a phosphoric-sulfuric acid mixture. The second electrolyte is a further acid mixture of an organic acid and an inorganic acid to form a tartaric sulfuric acid mixture. The two sequential anodizing steps result in a surface texture that has three excellent surface characteristics simultaneously, namely: a corrosion resistance, a coating acceptance for lacquer coatings and an adhesive bonding with other aluminum material components.

  • Patent number: 6432169
Abstract: The invention is concerned with a device and a process for drying air in ventilation devices for fuel tanks and gas drying in fuel tanks via vapor permeable membranes and sorbents.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 16, 2000
Date of Patent: August 13, 2002

  • Patent number: 5176761
Abstract: Surfaces of structural components made of aluminum or aluminum alloys are chemically treated to produce an aluminum oxide coating for improved adhesive bonding to other components or to other surface layers. The oxidizing is accomplished by exposing the surface to be oxidized to a combination bath of an inorganic mineral acid and an oxidation medium for a specific time duration, so that an oxide coating is produced on the surface of the structural components, as a prerequisite for a good adhesion stability of adhesive bonds to be formed after oxidizing.
