  • Patent number: 4745958
Abstract: The free end regions of the carcass of the tire form bead regions by extending these free end regions around a bead core. Each bead region of the tire carcass is seated on a related seat or seat surface formed at the tire rim. A first end region of a bead ring anchors the associated bead region on the associated seat and a second end region of this bead ring is locked in a locking groove formed at the related edge region of the tire rim. The bead ring is preferably made of spring steel and may be provided with cuts or cutouts in its second end region to facilitate the mounting thereof at the tire rim. The first end region of the bead ring may be vulcanized into or otherwise connected with the tire carcass. The seat may be formed at the inner circumferential surface or at the outer circumferential surface of the tire rim.

  • Patent number: 4051292
Abstract: The present invention relates to a pneumatic tire blank adapted to be vulcanized in a vulcanizing device of the kind not employing a bellows arrangement, but having a clamping system which acts upon the interior of the bead.

  • Patent number: 4029138
Abstract: A tire blank for a vehicle tire provided at its bead region or surface with a pre-vulcanized ply or a ply formed of a harder rubber mixture than the rubber mixture generally employed at the bead region. Each bead region of the tire blank possesses one such ply at its inner surface, and both plies are arranged at a spacing from one another.

  • Patent number: 4014969
Abstract: A method of fabricating molded articles composed of elastomeric material having embedded therein essentially oriented fibers, comprising the steps of fabricating a molded article with oriented fibers therein, positioning the molded article within a mold having two portions, a first mold portion defining the shape of the final molded article and a second mold portion arranged separately of said first mold portion and in communication therewith, said molded article being positioned partly in said first mold portion and partly in said second mold portion, subjecting the part of the molded article positioned in said second mold portion to a directed flow operation into said first mold portion and reorienting by said directed flow operation the fibers subjected to flow into a second fiber orientation direction differing from the fiber orientation direction of the part of said molded article positioned in said first mold portion.

  • Patent number: 3945420
Abstract: A molded article, especially a tire, comprising an elastomeric material and essentially oriented fibers embedded in said elastomeric material, said molded article including at least two sections containing such fibers, wherein said fibers of said sections, with said sections viewed projected into substantially a common plane, possess respective orientation directions differing from one another, and wherein said sections possess respectively different strength characteristics owing to the respective different fiber orientation directions of said two sections. There is also disclosed a method and apparatus for forming such molded articles wherein there is provided a hollow mold having a mold compartment, and means define at least one auxiliary compartment provided for said hollow mold.
