Abstract: The present invention is directed to a converter device. In a first aspect of the present invention, a converter device includes a board having a first side and a second side. The first side includes a first set of contacts suitable for electrically contacting an integrated circuit having a first configuration. The second side includes a second set of contacts suitable for electrically contacting a circuit board having a second configuration. The second set of contacts is communicatively coupled to the first set of contacts.

Abstract: A dual port enclosure monitor for servicing a dual port bus includes four primary components: two enclosure monitors and two bus expanders with isolation circuitry. The sub-system is configured such that an enclosure monitor and an expander are both connected to an external port. The internal bus then connects the two expanders, as well as all of the internal devices (e.g. hard drives, CD-ROMs, tape drives). The enclosure monitors can communicate with various host devices over the external buses. These host devices can instruct the enclosure monitor to either connect or isolate the internal bus, thereby the peripherals attached to it. This is accomplished through a set of independent control signals that run between the monitor and the expander. There are three different methods of control. The first is independent, paired control between enclosure monitor/bus expander pairs. A separate host controls each enclosure monitor/bus expander pair.

Abstract: An auto-termination method and apparatus for use with either active high or active low terminators are disclosed. The method includes the steps of (a) forcing a terminator to a first state by impressing a first voltage upon an input of the terminator; (b) determining, from the first voltage, a second voltage that when applied to the input of the terminator places the terminator in a second state; and (c) selectively forcing the terminator to the second state by impressing the second voltage upon the input of the terminator. The apparatus includes a terminator and a controller. The terminator is coupled to the bus and includes an input that is coupled to a first voltage that forces the terminator to a first state.
