Abstract: A system for automatically configuring applications installed on an end user computer system includes an autoprofile server connected to a network such as the Internet. The end user computer includes a third party client application that communicates with the autoprofile server to send information to and receive information from the end user computer. The client application can include extensions that provide extended functionality for the client application. The extensions can be transferred to and installed in the end user computer system. The extension also receive instructions or programs that instruct the extensions to detect whether a particular application is installed on an end user computer and configure or reconfigure the application according to the end user's or a third party's requirements.
