  • Patent number: 9057729
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of determining in vitro the amount of nuclear DNA within a human or animal cell using UV absorption measurement with UV light. The invention also relates to a method for detecting in vitro cancerous cells in a biological sample relying on the aforementioned principles. The invention also relates to an in vitro method of diagnosing or predicting the likely occurrence of cancer in a human or animal subject.

  • Patent number: 8815162
Abstract: The invention relates to a microelectronic sensor device and a method for the investigation of biological target substances (20), for example oligonucleotides like DNA fragments. In one embodiment, the device comprises a reaction surface (RS) to which target specific reactants (10) are attached and which lies between a sample chamber (SC) and an array of selectively controllable heating elements (HE). The temperature profile in the sample chamber (SC) can be controlled as desired to provide for example conditions for a PCR and/or for a controlled melting of hybridizations. The reactant (10) and/or the target substance (20) comprises a label (12) with an observable property, like fluorescence, that changes if the target substance (20) is bound to the reactant (10), said property being detected by an array of sensor elements, for example photosensors (SE).

  • Publication number: 20100173794
Abstract: A device is provided which is suitable for use in the amplification and detection of nucleic acids. The device comprises a simple tube comprising a compartment (3) that is preferably open at the top such that its content flows out when the tube (1) is turned upside down. The tube further comprises a cap (2) which comprises a microarray of nucleic acids to which amplified sample DNA may hybridize.

  • Publication number: 20090263891
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for analyzing one or more samples for the presence, amount or identity of one or more target molecules in the samples, comprising one or more capture sites whereby the device comprises a gas evolving means. The gas evolved by the gas evolving means moves unbound target molecules away from the capture site and therefore helps to increase the efficacy of the analysis.

  • Publication number: 20080318339
Abstract: A sensing device is provided which has a universal sensor surface. This allows easy modification of the detection properties without the need for investigation of the binding properties of a new target to the sensor surface. The device comprises a sensor surface, which has attached thereto a primary capture molecule. The invention further relates to a method for measurement of a target wherein this device is used.

  • Publication number: 20080311598
Abstract: Magnetic sensors are very suitable for use in determination of enzymatic activity. In a preferred embodiment the invention relates to a method for determining activity of an enzyme in modification of substrate (2) to product (3), comprising binding substrate or a binding composition that may bind e.g. substrate or product, to the sensor surface. This enables easy detection of magnetic label that is linked to substrate, product or the binding composition.
