Patent number: 10169384Abstract: An aspect of providing augmented reality model comparison and deviation detection includes receiving a three-dimensional (3D) model of an object that is associated with a domain, determining a set of characteristics of the object from the 3D model, and searching a domain-specific database for data matching the set of characteristics. The domain-specific database corresponds to the domain associated with the object. An aspect also includes determining an identification of the object from data in the domain-specific database that matches the set of characteristics. For each characteristic in the set of characteristics, and aspect further includes comparing each value of the characteristic to a corresponding value in the matching data of the domain-specific database, and calculating any variation between the corresponding value of the characteristic and the value of the matching data. Another aspect includes creating a searchable index of the matching data and corresponding variations.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 2016Date of Patent: January 1, 2019Assignee: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Eli M. Dow, Erin M. Farr, Michael E. Gildein, II, Moses J. Vaughan

Publication number: 20170061506Abstract: A method for presenting a formulated fair price range for a vehicle on a mobile computing platform in an augmented reality format. Embodiments of the present invention receive a digital image of a vehicle, identify distinguishing characteristics of the vehicle, cross reference those characteristics with multiple databases to identify the unique vehicle or vehicle type, retrieve from other databases data relating to the value of the vehicle or vehicle type and analyze and correlate the data to formulate a fair price range for the vehicle that is presented as a virtual image superimposed over the vehicle in the digital image. The data relating to vehicle value include crime data for a particular geographic area, crime data against different types of vehicles and geographic and environmental considerations such as climate and weather patterns or popularity and buying trends. A corresponding computer program product and computer system are also disclosed herein.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 4, 2016Publication date: March 2, 2017Inventors: Eli M. Dow, Erin M. Farr, Moses J. Vaughan

Patent number: 8972422Abstract: A method for managing log messages in a system includes identifying a log message having a data value, filtering a first data value from a historical log record for a first interval, predicting whether any particular system events should occur when the first data value is filtered from a received log record and identifying the corresponding system events, initiating a second interval while filtering the first data value from a received log record, determining whether any non-predicted system events have occurred, and removing the filter for the first data value responsive to determining that a non-predicted system event has occurred.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 2013Date of Patent: March 3, 2015Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Eli M. Dow, Erin M. Farr, Douglas M. Zobre
