  • Publication number: 20090000753
Abstract: A sealing strip of a suction roll (4) for a material web machine includes a longitudinal strip element (3) and a longitudinal holder (2) shaped as a U profile open in the direction of a facing surface (41). An element first layer (31) is an easily adjusting material and a second layer (34) is a stiffer material in the loading direction than the first layer. The strip element may be loaded so it or its edge does not substantially bend in the direction of movement of the facing surface. To optionally reduce the effect of abrasion: an inner mantel surface is treated by grain blasting, thermal injection coating, chemical or electro-chemical precipitation coating and/or polymer-based coating; and/or a lubricant or additive is fed between surfaces abrading against each other; and/or at least part of suction holes in a wall of the mantel are broached (71).

  • Patent number: 6820336
Abstract: A roll end (30) for a roll, in particular for a heatable roll, in a paper or board machine or in a finishing machine is made by a powder metallurgy process in a mold (20) such that a duct system (10) for a heat transfer medium is formed in connection with the manufacture of the roll end. A hot isostatic pressing process in particular is used in the manufacture.

  • Publication number: 20020088120
Abstract: A roll end for a roll, in particular for a heatable roll, in a paper or board machine or in a finishing machine has a whole formed by an end flange (31) and an axle journal (32), as well as a duct system (10) situated inside the material of the roll end (30), through which in a finished roll end a heat transfer medium is arranged to circulate from outside the roll through the axle journal (32) and the roll end (31) into bores of a roll shell and back. The roll end (30) is made by a powder metallurgy process in a mould (20) such that the duct system (10) for the heat transfer medium is formed in connection with the manufacture of the roll end by the powder metallurgy process. A hot isostatic pressing process in particular is used in the manufacture.

  • Patent number: 5623726
Abstract: The invention relates to the manufacture of paper machine roll shells of stainless steel. According to the invention, powder is made of molten steel by gas-atomizing, a roll shell preform is made of the powder, and the roll shell preform is machined to form a roll shell. The main advantage of the rolls shells according to the invention is their good corrosion fatigue resistance.
