  • Publication number: 20120129063
Abstract: A method of operating a fuel cell apparatus that comprises at least first and second groups of fuel cell stacks includes heating cathode gas supplied from a cathode gas inlet to cathode parts of the first group of fuel cell stacks by passing the cathode gas in heat exchange relationship with cathode exhaust gas being removed from at least one group of fuel cell stacks, and supplying cathode gas to the cathode parts of the second group of fuel cell stacks from a location upstream of a location at which the cathode gas being supplied to the cathode parts of the first group of fuel cell stacks is heated.

  • Publication number: 20110183229
Abstract: A fuel cell arrangement comprising a number of fuel cell stacks (17, 17?) consisting of planar fuel cells, the stacks being arranged one after the other, each of which being provided with a gas connection for the inlet and outlet flows of the gas of the anode and the cathode side. The fuel cell stacks (17, 17?) are arranged as a tower on a fastening plane element (2, 2?) acting as a load-bearing structure, the tower being supported by means of an end piece (19, 19?) arranged at the end opposite to the fastening plane element (2, 2?) of the tower and by tie bars (11, 11?) connecting the fastening plane element and the end piece. The fastening plane element (2, 2?) is provided with inlet and exhaust flow channels for both anode and cathode side gas, the channels being connected to the common anode and cathode side gas tubes (6, 6?; 7, 7?) of the tower arranged in connection with the tower for arranging the gas connection of the fuel cell stacks.

  • Publication number: 20080299425
Abstract: A flow arrangement for fuel cell stacks connects fuel cell stacks into fuel stack groups having a number of fuel cell stacks connected in parallel by their anode and cathode parts so that the inlet of the anode part of each fuel cell stack group is in connection with an inlet manifold common to these and that the exhaust of the anode part of each group is connected with an exhaust manifold. Further, the inlet of the cathode part of each group is connected with a cathode part manifold and the exhaust of the cathode part of each group is connected with a cathode part exhaust common to these. The fuel cell stacks are connected in series by their cathode side flows. A by-pass channel system provides flow connection between at least one cathode part manifold subsequent to the fuel cell stack group and the first part of the cathode flow channel system, at a position located prior to the heat exchanger in the flow direction of the gas.

  • Publication number: 20070281202
Abstract: A fuel cell arrangement for transporting gases to a number of fuel cell units and for exhausting reaction products from the fuel cell unit, the flow arrangement comprising a number of fuel cell units and a fastening platform onto which each fuel cell unit is supported to. The fastening platform comprises a number of separate flow channels via which the heat exchanger apparatus is in flow connection with each fuel cell unit.

  • Patent number: 5862793
Abstract: An injection valve arrangement for injecting a pressure medium into a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine comprises a valve body formed with a feed duct and an actuation chamber, and an elongated valve member fitted in the valve body and movable in the valve body between an open position and a closed position. The valve member is formed with an internal chamber which is in communication with the feed duct and is also formed with one or more nozzle orifices which provide fluid communication between the internal chamber and the combustion chamber when the valve member is in the open position. The valve member has a piston surface bounding the actuation chamber such that force acting on the valve member due to pressure in the actuation chamber urges the valve member toward its open position against the force of a spring.

  • Patent number: 5718385
Abstract: A fuel injection valve for an internal combustion engine comprises a valve body structure including a nozzle part formed with a needle passage having at least one nozzle passage at one end, a primary control chamber spaced along the needle passage from the nozzle passage, and a secondary control chamber. The primary control cheer is connected in use to a duct for supplying fuel under pressure. The nozzle part of the valve body structure has a seating surface between the nozzle passage and the primary control chamber. A needle structure is fitted slidably in the needle passage with one end of the needle structure proximate the seating surface. The needle structure has a first control surface that is exposed to pressure of fluid in the primary control chamber, a second control surface at the end of the needle structure proximate the seating surface, and a third control surface exposed to pressure of fluid in the secondary control chamber.
