  • Patent number: 9897713
Abstract: A hydrodynamic foil system for a sensor streamer array includes towing equipment coupled to a survey vessel. The towing equipment includes at least one spreader cable extending substantially transversely to a direction of motion of the survey vessel. A plurality of laterally spaced apart sensor streamers is coupled at respective forward ends thereof to the towing equipment. A plurality of foils disposed on the spreader cable, the foils configured to provide hydrodynamic lift in a vertical direction as the at least one spreader cable is moved through the water. The foils are each rotatable about the spreader cable.

  • Patent number: 9075165
Abstract: A hydrodynamic foil system for a sensor streamer array includes at least two tow ropes each coupled at one end to a survey vessel and at the other end to a paravane. the paravanes configured to provide lateral outward force as the vessel and paravanes are moved through a body of water. A spreader cable is coupled to each of the paravanes. A plurality of laterally spaced apart sensor streamers coupled at forward ends thereof to the spreader cable. A plurality of foils is disposed on the spreader cables. The foils configured to provide hydrodynamic lift in a vertical direction as the spreader cables are moved through the water.

  • Patent number: 8960117
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to using a remote operated vehicle (ROV) to facilitate cleaning of a submerged geophysical equipment (e.g., a streamer) being towed behind a tow vessel. The ROV may, in one embodiment, attach a streamer cleaning unit (SCU) to the streamer, where the SCU is configured to clean the streamer. In another embodiment, the ROV may facilitate cleaning by cleaning the streamer itself using a cleaning attachment coupled to the ROV.

  • Publication number: 20100278010
Abstract: A system for passive acoustic monitoring in connection with seismic surveying includes a survey vessel having a recording system thereon. At least one seismic energy source is coupled to the vessel by a first towing cable. The towing cable includes at least one conductor therein. At least one seismic sensor streamer is coupled to the vessel by a lead in cable. At least one acoustic sensor is coupled to the at least one source by a second towing cable. The second towing cable includes at least one signal conductor configured to transmit signals from the acoustic sensor to the at least one conductor in the first towing cable. The at least one acoustic sensor is configured to detect marine mammal vocalization.
