The method disposes a plurality of light emitting devices on a surface of a swimming pool comprising a length, a plurality of sides and a bottom, wherein the surface is selected from the group consisting of one or more of the plurality of sides and the bottom. The method further sequentially energizes one or more of the light emitting devices.
